Stupid me....I thought my 8 year old had enough common sense to realize that she is NOT a Mythbuster and we don't try their experiments in my kitchen using my copper pots.... 1 million extra bonus points to my husband for letting her talk him into this shit.

She saw some shit on YouTube about making copper glow using nail polish remover. The only copper she could find was my copper pots. Apparently it wasn't supposed to damage the pot but they messed up somewhere. She's been hardcore into science type stuff since she started watching Mythbusters at grandpa's house.

Ruining expensive cookware and a counter.... At least it was a kid, a few years back my roomate put a 2'nd generation cast iron pan in the dishwasher ruining it by rusting it out. For those who don't know, the more you use a cast iron pan, the more "seasoned" or non-stick it becomes. After 50 plus years, I would have put that pan over the best non stick pans on the market. On the bright side, you do have something to hold over her head, if you are that kind of parent.

If yours are anything like mine, they'll surprise you in that way quite often. They make some decent decisions and lull you into a false sense that they've grasped the whole responsibility and common sense thing, then BAM...

Sounds like she smart and inquisitive, which is cool. Common sense often seems to escape a lot of the smartest people I know (That is where the Dad-unit really has to step up, he should have known the cost of those things and figured out some place to do it that was lest dangerous and a way to procure copper just for it... Does Home Depot still have copper bits for plumbing?). My brother who is now a nuclear science-type man guy used to create all kinds of stupid chemical concoctions, including some poisonous. Hell, he once got a chemistry kit with cyanide in it. Those were the days I suppose. Damn, I lucky he didn't accidentally kill himself or me... Or both.
