Why does Auron gimp arm it? He just pulls it out and he's f***ING RIPPED, BRO and it's fine.
It's a design flaw IMO. He should just be like legit crippled from his guardian days of tooling around with Jecht and Braska and still be a stoic, actually technically dead bad mofo.
Recently just bought the remaster btw if you didn't gleam it for whatever reason.
Currently In Gaudosalam. Damnit is Seymour hateable. I don't even like Tidus. Just don't like Yuna being a tool.

There's a reason his arm's fine, without spoiling anything. The arm in the sleeve like that is meant to be evocative of a ronin, a samurai without a master, since that's basically what he's been for a while, before entering into Yuna's service.

Never beat it the first time. Don't know much about like "Bushido," or whatever, but I have faith that you absolutely know what you're talking about.

I tried to look it up some more, and it seems like something that's sort of a cliche of that type of character in Japan, plus his sake jug he has, so I'm pretty sure that's the reason behind it, at any rate.

I liked Tidus and found him sympathetic.
I didn't like Auron. He dodges every question he is asked and it hurt the plot in my view.

I was alright with Auron being vague, since what he does know, he's not really at liberty to talk about much, and there's still a lot that even he didn't know about goings on.
I like Tidus more than dislike him. I feel like he's kind of a better way of handling "hero who is largely around for the ride" than FFXII, where Vaan barely feels like he has agency for more than half of the game, but I get where he could be abrasive.

With Moz.
Stoic old guy letting people find out what he knows for themselves is fine to me. It gets heavy handed at times, but so does all of that game. Half it's content is unskippable cutscenes of people just babbling about nothing.
With clash too though, kinda. Don't hate Tidus. He's just an emo kid that has what it takes and doesn't understand what's going on half the time.

Also, I get that the Aurochs are canon terrible, but why is Tidus when they first force you to play Blitzball? Ain't he the hotshot son of like the Michael Jordan of the game? It's dumb.

When a Square Enix character is going through something bad, it's not hard for me to get why. I liked Auron overall, but frankly there's numerous parts in the story where I can't exactly blame Tidus for getting frustrated with him withholding information.

Too much aloof on purpose.

Is he really that bad? I remember he knew the Jecht Special Super Shot during the first match so he couldn't have been that bad a player. Or is that move something you need to unlock, it's been years since I've played it.

You need to do a QTE correctly to get it, so you can definitely get it early, and it's worth doing, but even without it, he has the Sphere Shot, which is still better than I think your other players. I just figured that the state of the game has changed in that time. It's like if you could put Babe Ruth on a baseball team now, there's no guarantee he would perform all that well. It has changed too much.

My thing with Auron is he's supposed to be the toughest member of the group, yet when I play he gets surpassed by everyone except maybe Kimarhi.

He makes up for it some in Shooting Star, which is not only f***ing hilarious, but it works on a lot of stuff you probably wouldn't think it did. He's still going to be one of your biggest damage dealers when you get him, especially when you need piercing, and he has a lot of HP, I think off of the top of my head, but yeah, his lack of speed hurts longterm, not that it matters terribly much if you abuse Hastega, Delay Attack, Quick Attack, etc, with your team.

It's not like Auron is the only one withholding info though. Heck, the rest of the party do keep to themselves the most important piece of information that later makes Tidus go really angry (or maybe annoyed? I don't think his VA protrayed anger very well (but it's still better than Yuna's, though)) at everyone. There's really only a couple of pieces of info Auron had that nobody else did that could've changed anything... and they did it anyway in one case, and nothing anyone could do in the other, so that's that.

This is the game with Seymour's hair and you're calling Auron's arm a design flaw?

It makes sense why they don't tell Tidus everything. Even if you don't agree with the notion that some people aren't going to tell outsiders everything about their culture when they first show up, he also is a standin for the player so the player has an excuse to be told things.
Without that, you get FFXIII, where you have to read a freakin encyclopedia to know what anything is.
