The wiper linkage on my Chevy HHR has gone. The motor is still working but the socket that fits the bolt that moves the wiper blades is stripped. I managed to do a quick fix by wrapping copper wire around the bolt to allow it to grab the linkage.
What I want to know. Can I take the wiper mechanism out of a Mazda 3 and put it into my HHR?

No ours a different configuration. Call a wrecking users get a used one. for sure. But I got an extra Mazda I don't mind taking the wipers from. So I thought I'd check it out just to be sure. After talking to someone, I did learn that some wiper transmissions are compatible with other cars. It's a long shot that the 06 mazda will link up with an 09 hhr. But it's worth taking a look. I also know that the yard by my house has an HHR for parts. But the owners are hard to negotiate with

First I wanna say thanks for taking the time to try to help. Unfortunately the problem described in that link isn't what I'm having. Here's a quick pic I made Where it's stripped is where the motor turns. Because the socket itself is stripped. I need to replace the whole transmission. the bolt turns when I turn on the motor. But it just spins freely because it can't grab the inner socket.
