I loved origins, and 2 was okay, but I really disliked Inquisition. The story was okay, but all the hassle of having to go around the landscape was incredibly annoying. I'm not big on playing games where you have to have a FAQ or game book in front of you to really get anywhere, and that's what Inquisition felt like. Also hated that even the most open plains looking place had enormous cliffs and walls and crap to block your progress.

I didn't have the guide problem, but the cliffs did get pretty annoying sometimes, especially in the admittedly rare times one of my guys would fall off a cliff like a moron.

I think the way the series handled the dwarf and elf cultures was fantastic. It is a fun bit of world building with a slightly different spin than standard dwarves/elves.

Yeah, I really like how they handled the elves in this universe. Especially the Dalish basically being LARPers doing things because that's what the old legends say elves do... without much of the history or reasoning for the rituals and such. I don't particularly remember there being a huge difference between Dwarf culture and most fantasy settings though.

With the Dwarf culture the main standout to me was the class/caste system, wherein the closer you are to the surface the lower class you are.

I love Origins, one of my all time favourites and A game I have completed a scary number of times, role playing as different kind she of characters, doing every romance, etc. I enjoyed DA2 a lot, especially the greater depth of character development. I also really enjoyed the time jumps and getting to see the consequences of your actions. It is flaws, with the overuse of the same maps, the combat felt a lot more button mashy, at least on my console. I get my some people don't like it, especially when compared to the sheer size and scale or Origins, but I really liked the story Bioware told in that game.
DA:I... I never finished. My first time I hit the hinterlands and I stopped caring. The second time I got near the end, but I simply haven't felt the need to pick it up. Which is a shame as it has a lot of good things, but I just couldn't get into it as much as the previous games. I should pick it up again at some point, but there's just too much filler for me. I love Skyrim, and the exploration in that, but that's just not what I want from a Dragon Age game.
I love so much about the series. I love the characters, I love the lore. I even got the World of Thedas book Dark Horse put out. But I just can't get though Inquisition... though now I'm thinking of playing Origins again.

I've played all 3, but got the deepest into DA: I. I like the mythos (although it's damn deep, and can be confusing getting ground on things). I loved the design and look of the game, but hoo boy, do I hate that you can't store items and you only have a limited amount of carry to work with. The inventory system is a nightmare, particularly after coming off of Skyrim.
But regardless, fun game, love the crafting and the multiplayer too.

Romanced Morrigan in Origins Isabela in 2 Inquisition was the first time I ever played as a female character just so I could romance Sera (Dwarf Inquisitor) Vivienne would have been my first choice had she been an option.

Origins heavily front loaded its good design decisions, you play through it once and go through the origin backgrounds just so you never have to go through the awful stuff like the fade. Bioware does have a bad habit of this since Chateau Irenicus in Baldurs Gate 2 was pretty awful and I just download a mod to skip it instead.
2 was a plodding mess but I haven't played Inquisitions so I can't comment on it.

Dragon Age Origins and its expansion, Awakening, are amazing, especially on PC since it opens up the game to the mod scene. Not only are there some great cosmetic mods, but also really handy quality of life mods like Talent Respecs and Skip The Fade (I liked doing it the first time, but it's a pain in the ass every other time). Dragon Age 2 was very different and while I liked it a lot more than others, it's still a step down from Origins IMO.
Never played Inquisition. Been meaning to.
