Sometimes, a musical piece or leitmotif will be created for a character, only to see more general usage after its creation. What are some examples of this.
I'll start the thread off with that example, plus two that happened within Gundam series, since I figure it will free up room for people to grab more mainstream examples.
The original series had as either the primary antagonist or deuteragonist, depending on how you look at it, Char Aznable. He became one of the most iconic characters in anime, very often imitated or homaged. A song, titled "Char the Gallant", is used for many conflicts he has with the main character, Amuro Ray, but seemed to shift to a general battle theme for the original series. Char actually has another theme, as well, but I think that stayed specific to him. I also don't remember it playing during the series, so it might be more like an idol song.
Gundam Wing, the Gundam series most Westerners would be familiar with if they'd only ever seen one, has, and this is a mouthful, "The Wings Of A Boy That Killed Adolescence". It is often used as the generic fighting music for the series, both in the show and in various games, despite the title pretty strongly tying it to the main character, Heero Yuy, who I don't think is even present for some of the times it is used, less strongly than the Char example, but it still seems intended for him, specifically, given he pilots the Wing Gundam and his arrival sets into motion events which mark the end of Relena Darlian's seemingly tranquil childhood.
