Man his stuff on the Mortal Kombat Conquest show is some of the funniest videos on YouTube.
I watched a few episodes when it came on after Nitro and promptly gave up on it. And I was more than a mark for shows like that.

This thing is amazing. It's like they wanted to have dark, meaningful scenes that sent a strong message to children but they forgot to add any meaning or message. Man his stuff on the Mortal Kombat Conquest show is some of the funniest videos on YouTube. I watched a few episodes when it came on after Nitro and promptly gave up on it. And I was more than a mark for shows like that. The saddest part is that if his videos are any indication, there WAS potential for it. The main cast is made of pretty good and charismatic actors (as Phelous himself says, it's amazing how likeable they managed to make their characters considering how terribly they are written), the fight scenes were good (even though the stunt doubles could get obvious) and even with the very large departures from the games or even the movie (don't think Annihilation was out at the time), that's a solid enough concept to carry a show. But the awkward, inconsistent writing obviously made up on the fly with little to no long-term plan and twists and build-ups that are never followed up on killed it. That and the incredibly awful special effects. Seriously, even at the time, even with a low budget, you could do much better than this. F***, Xena and Hercules pulled it off.

You are definitely right. They tried to go the Hercules/Xena route with show. He made excellent points throughout his series on the show. And Conquest did have interesting concepts that were just poorly executed. Even back then they could have really had something with that show especially with it coming on that time slot.

Well, I can say that as "WTF" as this movie is, it's not the worst Christmas movie he'e ever reviewed(that honor currently goes to "Psycho Santa"...though he is reviewing "The Christmas Tree" next time, so that could surpass it).
