It's like that friggin' Reaper stared the emotional support we all put behind Carrie Fisher in the eye and just blindly swung his scythe & struck George Michael. awkward And the fact that he's a big fan of his comes right up in his profile info too. RIP George. Though in a way, you've gotten FREEDOM!! from whatever this maddening world we're in seems to be turning into....

This year has proved that we should not take anything for granted because it can all end just as easily as it begun and the people who you love and who love you, can be gone the next day.

OFFS... RIP to a great music talent. Was not a big fan but I can appreciate how gifted he was to music as a whole.
Now I propose that on New Years instead of singing Auld Lang Syne after the ball drops. To say GTFO to 2016 we sing this instead:
Add the Stone Cold 'Oh Hell Yeah' if you must

We could go from Life on Mars to Let's Go Crazy to Goodbye and not scratch the surface of the pain of 2016.
RIP George. I'm sorry you are gone, but grateful you lived long enough for some of the world to understand who you were as a man.

RIP. And FFS stop blaming 2016. People die all the time. It's life.

So is it the Grim Reaper's mission this year to erase the 80s?
Bowie, Brince, very nearly Carrie, and now George Michael

No one could ever replace Freddie Mercury. But at the tribute concert, George gave it a f***ing good go.

RIP. And FFS stop blaming 2016. People die all the time. It's life. We already said in the Carrie Fisher thread to let people grieve however they see fit. Save the blaming stuff for another time.

My biggest memory of George Michael was when he absolutely nailed it at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Freddie would have been so proud of his incredible performance that night.

Not trying to be morbid, just saying there are a LOT of 80s icons out there. Truth is, yes, it's silly to blame a year, but it's impossible to ignore the scar it has left on pop culture.

Now when I hear 'Last Christmas' I will always think of him dying on Christmas. RIP. I was singing this at the top of my lungs last night as I do every year, because its one of my favorite Christmas songs and now, I cant help but be sad by it. Im so pissed. Bowie, Prince, and now George. Im over this year.

The thing that sucks about this year for pop music is that not only have we lost all of these legends like Prince, Bowie, and now George Michael, but they all came out of nowhere. Michael and Prince were both relatively young, and Bowie hid his illness and had just released an album. It's just so weird to think about it, like you don't recognize how great they are until they're gone. RIP George.

I was just saying last night at the dinner table that I kinda expected one more musician death because there was always one late in the year that hit me kinda hard and... now I feel really guilty for saying it.

And FFS stop blaming 2016. People die all the time. It's life. Don't judge people for how they grieve, fall back. People of tremendous worldwide impact don't die en masse like this "all the time." This year saw the loss of several icons whose work had a profound impact of their lives to the point where it became an intrinsic part of it. For many of us, we've never had to deal with this many major losses in a row. So, FFS, show some respect to the people you're sharing a planet with and keep your coping-shaming to yourself. Thanks.
