I was really hoping for a Wham reunion! RIP (As stated above, no one else could of been a more perfect fit for post- Freddie Queen than George)

And FFS stop blaming 2016. People die all the time. It's life. Don't judge people for how they grieve, fall back. People of tremendous worldwide impact don't die en masse like this "all the time." This year saw the loss of several icons whose work had a profound impact of their lives to the point where it became an intrinsic part of it. For many of us, we've never had to deal with this many major losses in a row. So, FFS, show some respect to the people you're sharing a planet with and keep your coping-shaming to yourself. Thanks. I already addressed the issue. Nothing more needs to be said. So please drop it.

We lost so many greats in the past year, this really sucks, George Michael was great. Also keep in mind Scott Weiland died Dec 3rd 2015 and Lemmy died Dec 28 2015, so it began december 2015.

If we want to smile, can you imagine that he duet George Michael and Freddie Mercury are rocking right now? I'd buy tickets for that.

Not a huge fan, but Careless Whisper and Father Figure are masterpieces.
R.I.P. George Michael.

Couple things. To the poster who made the comment about him now having freedom...no. Just not the time to allude to that, and I am almost positive what your reference was. Without getting into lock territory, I'll just say I am willing to give benefits of the doubt.
As for The Curse...yeah, it is what it is, but you can't deny it's been extra creepy this year. I guess it doesn't help that these people have been icons, and ones we thought would always be there for us. I'd also add the ability and talent of millennial stars being questionable in this Kardashian age also doesn't help, and makes it more like the end of an era. Like no one can carry the mantles of these icons, dumbed down as our culture is now.
Yeah, I guess we'll never hear that song in future Christmases...like how we never hear John Denver's Leaving on a Jet Plane. Or just Taylor Swift's version (gasp! Seriously I do like hers, actually, but...)
And I've been thinking about the movie Keanu because of him :-(

His music wasn't really my style but I can't deny he had a great voice and was a cracking song writer.
RIP
I'm shocked to hear he was younger than my dad too. It seems like he's been around forever.

Damn it... out of all the Bluths, he was easily the closest one to normal.
Oh, not that George Michael.
But seriously, never good to wake up and read another topic with a title like this. Condolences to his family.

I don't want to jump on the year thing but it really has been a lousy year losing all these great entertainers.

My family was sitting around discussing how the local radio station plays "Last Christmas" about 500 times a day and my brother looked it up on his phone to see what year that came out and saw the news that George Michael had died. We were all taken aback. The whole family started looking up Wham and solo songs and playing them in my living room.

I didn't watch TV at all yesterday, this is shocking and sad news to wake up to. I know he had a few problems in recent years, but his talent as an artist can't be denied.
He also had a big heart, doing gigs for some nurses who looked after his mum, helping out at soup kitchens and doubling the winnings he got on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionair?'. Sleep well, sir.

We had his music playing most of the day.

Aw, and to think Careless Whisper recently found new relevance via Deadpool I bought that film for my dad for Christmas. He hasn't had a chance to watch it yet. That's gonna be weird.

Should I be embarrassed that I had forgotten he had performed so many songs that I love? I forgot Careless Whisperer until it was brought up. I mean, just... wow. Much like with Prince, my iTunes bill is enormous.
