Coach don't think Vince can bring her in now Shut up, Coach. The sport show of Pro Wrestling was practically invented so shitty and washed up athletes could continue to make a living when their "real" career in the ring and on the field was over. Before the marks got in the ring (as Jim Cornette would say) the ranks of wrestlers was almost made up exclusively of side show freaks, shitty amateur wrestlers, jocks who peaked in high school, part-time NFL players (they didn't get paid in the off season), and local "tough guys" who got work as bouncers. A battered martial artist would fit right in. If a scrub like Chuck Wepner can box Andre, a formerly dominate UFC champion like Ronda can mess around with Steph and/or a surrogate. True. I mean. Wrestling fans still act like Ronda's scrub 4 Horsewomen friends are world beaters. Atleast Rousey has had some amount of actual success.

Had Punk fought someone the caliber of Nunes though, he likely would not have. It'd have been like him going up against a Robbie Lawler or something.

Yeah, Rousey has become very arrogant, as most high level athletes do when everyone around tells them they're great and flawless. Still, I couldn't help feel a little sorry for her. She looked mentally not there, just scared. And she got destroyed.
However, I always cringe when a fighter who is highly skilled at a particular martial art, will insist on trying to match their opponent at their opponent's speciality . Sure Rousey tried for some half hearted clinches and throws that were subsequently stuffed, but I believe they were stuffed because she was immediately rocked by Nunes' first strike.
Rousey's stand up was already picked apart by Holm. Engaging on the feet with a bomber like Nunes right off the bat was trouble. Nunes is no slouch on the ground, but at least getting to the ground would have given Rousey a better chance to succeed. She needed to get her confidence back in there, and taking hard shots immediately was not the way to do it. Sure people would have mocked her if she avoided the stand up in favor of trying to gauge a takedown, but it would have been better than what happened. She was on the wrong side of a gif-able fight.
I don't think she fights again for a long time, if ever again.

Garbrandt and Dillashaw will be a good fight but man that preflight trash talk is gonna be beyond cringeworthy.

The UFC is screwed if the face of their women's division is basically the charisma-less Nunes.

She seemed likable, quirky and the stuff with the lion head at the weigh in was great. I used to have real doubts over whether she could carry a division, but with performances like this and more investment from the top brass I can imagine her being a good champion.

Why do shit on fighters when they lose? Like they have a personal stake in their lives. It's all in good fun. She wasn't seriously hurt. It happens. Physically? No. Mentally and emotionally? Oh, there is no question that she is in agony.

They were all good to average but nothing close to being elite wrestlers of their day. Guys like Karl Gotch and all the rest were nothing but big mouths. The toughest guys in a world of make believe filled with stiffs who didn't even know how to throw a proper punch. Gotch teaming up with Billy Robinson to beat up an old drunken coward like Buddy Rodgers isn't an impressive athletic feat.

Mickey Gall does look like a guy with a very bright future ahead though.
