That guy in the old Memphis territory during the civil rights era who would play up to the Blacks in the segregated audience. If you're talking Sputnik Monroe, he went far beyond that and got the building integrated. Freddie Blassie used to play to the fans in the balcony in Georgia, becoming a heel to the white fans and a face to the black fans.

When Bobo sold a choke, he'd have spittle around his mouth and the fans started rushing the ring to save him. Fred would take Bobo's hands and put them on his throat so it would appear Bobo was fighting back. Fred cursing at him makes me laugh, "Aah, aah, f*** you Bobo. The way you sell, you're gonna get us both killed!"

I think Darsow's over the top nature as Repo Man would probably get him some ironic appreciation and babyface chants in certain sectors these days.

Bobby Heenan would get face pops, as would the entire Heenan Family.

Bobby Heenan would get face pops, as would the entire Heenan Family. Someone would be whining about Heenan's stereotypical jokes, I'm sure.

Kindly explain this "bs" that was the Ultimate Warrior... With respect to the guy's memory, and the amazing job WWE's done at re-spinning a coked up egomaniac as a "legendary hero" post-mortem, Warrior as a wrestler was 95% sizzle, 5% steak. He only had good matches against guys that were leagues better than him. So basically the same Internet heat John Cena was having thrown at him about 5-10 years ago, whilst business wise, selling out arenas and merchandise.

On the subject of Warrior, seeing how popular Broken Matt Hardy is, Warrior would fit right in, at least for his insane promos. Heck, I can see TNA bringing him in as Jim Hardy, the lost Hardy relative.

A lot of the heat on Warrior was not only his in-ring ability, but how he was ungrateful for his spot, and disrespectful to most of the guys he counted on for good matches, not to mention some of what he said later in life out of the ring about various topics (homosexuality, taunting Hurricane Katrina victims). Cena ended up earning the fans' respect by working hard, showing improvement, never having backstage issues with anyone, at least not that I've heard (aside from Kenny Dykstra not liking him), and being an absolute class act outside the ring.

A guy like The Genius would get over the same way Sandow did.

That's a matter of course. Warrior's biggest gripe in wrestling was with Vince, and Vince alone. Plenty of shoot interviews with guys like Kamala, Shawn Michaels and Paul Bearer that state that Warrior was a good guy that let them use his company limousine or stay at his New York apartment when he wasn't there to save on their Road costs. Macho Man was big friends with Warrior. Even Bret Hart, who was at odds with him, stated Warrior never hurt him or did anything to sabotage his career, after his death. I don't think Warrior ever politicked, save for that one time with HHH. Prime example is all the Papa Shango stuff. He just showed up to work TV and did as he was told, even when he knew it was shit Any time people felt slighted is when they got caught in the crossfire between Warrior and Vince, such as Jake Roberts.

I never saw Akeem as particularly racist bar perhaps the initial turn from OMG. He just looked like a guy having a good time dancing and wrestling, with a pretty close friendship with a black guy.
