Remember that short time between underwhelming WWE runs when Alberto, freshly (and arguably, unjustly) wronged by corporate policies, became the most in-demand guy on the indy scene, almost immediately started rebuilding his cred with a fanbase that had turned on him and then, when WWE went after him legally, fought back...and won? Wha'happened? His demons got the best him. He started to run into problems working freelance with him cancelling bookings and just no showing. Then his problems with AAA got out of control with wanting to kill Sin Cara Uno once more and fighting AAA management over money owned. He was downward spiraling before the WWE return.

There's no evidence Del Rio has a drug problem but there is evidence that the guy has always been a bit of a nutter, it's just now he's not punching or trying to rip the mask off Mistico/Sin Cara or some other perceived villain so his nuttery is seen for what it is, the act of someone with a short fuse that needs to grow up. With so many incidents happening in such a short period of time, it doesn't mean he has a substance abuse problem for sure but the red flags are starting to pop up. Maybe he is just a wack job, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to find he has an alcohol or cocaine issue. Or maybe he doesn't have a dependency, and he's one of those people who really, really can't handle their high There is plenty of evidence of drug use, heck the WWE said Paige's failure was due to an illegal street drug, pretty much narrowing it down to Cocaine and Heroin. They obviously aren't using heroin, because the drug pretty incapacitates you and mellows you down, something that is very apparently not happening with Del Rio. Also, from what I have heard, because I have never used heroin, you don't have any desire to drink on heroin. I watched him in WCPW and he showed all of the signs of cocaine use, constant sniffing, glassy eyed, and constantly moving his tongue in his mouth due to the mouth numbness caused by rubbing the drug on your gums, known as coke mouth. Some users are able to hide it quite well, and others are very obvious. Mixing the drug with alcohol is incredibly dangerous because it allows you to continue drinking when your body would normally force you to pass out.

El Cokehead del Knife Fight needs to be a character in Lucha Underground. Alberto's knife vs. Joey's penis would be the feud of the year. It's "pen is mightier than the sword". You forgot a space there.
