Bit the bullet and finally watched the movie, albeit the theatrical version. Quite liked it to be honest. Batfleck was awesome and really liked the dynamic with Alfred. Loved Wonder Woman and how she interacted with Bruce Wayne. I think if they just removed the grating Superman and Lois characters, it would have been a better film. ---- On a side note - Is this Superman impotent? Maybe just stupid? If he couldn't see through the lead lining maybe super-hearing could detect chemical changes and spark of the explosion? Couldn't he react at super speed to remove the threat from the room? Instead, he just stands there, moping. One would think he could dive on it quickly like a soldier on a grenade. Exactly. Even Dean Cain's Superman did that. Nothing about this Superman is heroic. Christopher Reeve's Superman was majestic, commanding, yet kindly and had an undying will to inspire and do good. In comparison to any previous incarnation, this guy is just a thug.

Amazed they didn't put this one in the theaters. Granted it's not great, but it fills in the gaps on things and would've gotten as better reception than the film they did put out.

I'm still bugged out how Batman, the World's Greatest Detective, can get made by 3 different people while trying to put that device into the server at Luthor's party...one of those people not even being a meta.
I'm never letting that go.

Haven't seen the extended version yet, but basically the general consensus is the new version makes more sense?
That's good I guess, but I mainly had issues with the messages of the story (I thought they were either confused or needlessly pessimistic), and how most of the characters acted (stupidly, and not at all likable).

My brother took me with him, to see Batman vs. Superman, in the theater. I laughed. A lot.

I'm glad I've only just seen the BvS Ultimate Edition, then. I guess? I didn't hate it but I didn't care much either. Curious how much better the Suicide Squad extended cut will be. I thought the theatrical was choppy as hell all over, yet I still enjoyed it (something I can't say for BvS). Suicide Squad is basically the same deal. It's not going to change your opinions of the story or characters, but it flows way better as a movie.

The Ultimate Edition, if nothing else, makes fan editing easier. Did my own version a couple of months back and gave it a happier ending.

I thought it was better too. But devil's advocate: I'm not sure it really could have been worse But still, it was better.

Like it would have been so much easier plotwise if they actively showed luthor framing both batman and superman into fight each other. Have luthor hack the bat-jet and kill a few mooks to make it look like batman went off the deep end and have superman come after him. Have luthor build cyborg superman and have him commit a massacre to make it look like superman went off the deep end and have batman come after him

True, but in the first film you could try to excuse it as Superman being very inexperienced and green.

Yeah, I didn't actually mind the theatrical cut, but definitely recognized how flawed it was, nevertheless. I remember sitting there for the first two hours or so and thinking "Ok, the editing is too choppy, but why are people so upset about this flick?", then getting to the final half hour, looking at my watch, and wondering when on God's green Earth they were going to actually wrap it up. Just did not flow well and that made it feel overly long.
I'm interested to see this cut, though, since every review I read says something along the lines of the theatrical cut being a 2 1/2 hour movie that felt like 4 hours, while the expanded cut is a 3 hour movie that feels more like 2 hours. It just goes to show how incredibly important editing and pacing are to the filmmaking process; in fact, I think a huge reason the WB/DC film universe hasn't taken off the way it should have is that they've been so obsessed with recutting everything that their films feel disjointed. It's too bad, too; I actually liked it when they said they wanted the filmmakers to take the point on these movies, because I like the idea of each film feeling different despite having a shared universe, and I really don't mind things feeling a bit "rougher" compared to what has become, at least for me, a Marvel cinematic universe that has started to feel too slick and repetitive, kind of prepackaged. Think it's why I got more into most of the recent Fox X-Men movies, even with Apocalypse being a pretty big disappointment, and why I'm so eager to give these DC films a chance - yes, the chances for disaster are higher with those movies, but I find them more interesting on the whole.
Has me wondering about the recut Suicide Squad, as well; I still feel that the overall premise in that one is flawed (SS should likely focus more on covert ops than on big world-saving spectacles), but there are a lot of areas in it that feel like they're very close to being what they need to be to work, but again, the editing/pacing just threw it off.
