So I wasn't really paying attention to wrestling much during this and was just watching a YT video and...did I really just see UT challenge Orton to a Hell In A Cell match by speaking through a possessed Josh Matthews???

You think that's crazy?
Watch Impact and see all the nutty shit Dixie Carter says through Josh Matthews.

Yeah Taker was doing his goofy mind games to Orton.
There was another one with Randy briefly seeing his father covered in blood for a moment via awkward cut, only for Cowboy Bob to then be back to normal a moment later. Throw in an Orton replica inside a casket ala the Diesel/Taker feud from 96 and you basically have the build from Survivor Series 2005 to Armageddon 2005.

You forgot Orton blowing Taker up with a low rider.

Still think he should've been the one to break the streak around then.

Things got weird around this stage in Takers career. I mean, he f***ing murdered Paul Bearer.

And don't forget Taker making Orton's car drive off by itself. That Orton/Taker feud between SS 2005 - Armageddon 2005 was cartoon goofy shit but it was a lot of fun IMO, and I remember liking the HITC match at Armageddon to

In such a weird way too, like not only the concrete crypt deal but Undertaker's justification of "If I don't literally murder you I have a weakness that my enemies will exploit." Like...he could have just asked him to not come with to wrestling shows.

Didn't Taker also pull a WCW Ultimate Warrior by doing the mirror trick?

But I think there was also a time when Bob Orton appeared bloody, but pretended not to notice it. Not sure if that one actually happened, or I'm confused.

Shakespeare has rolled over in his grave so much that he's actually drilled his way into the Middle East.
The storytelling of wrestling got him there.
