Thought this would be a nice counter to the "Worst Final Seasons" thread, and because I saw some people stick up for Scrub's last season.
-Buffy's seventh season: On a whole, it's a little lacking and retreads ground that the characters should have long moved away from, but it's still better than season six by a mile, Nathan Fellion has a great turn as Caleb, and the finale is fairly satisfactory
-Angel-The premise could have easily been a creative death kneel, but this is arguably my favourite season next to the second. Virtually every episode is a must-see and the stakes are considerably high. And "Smile Time". Forever "Smile Time". "This makes me happy" (coughs up blood)
-Sliders Season Five: O'Connel and his brother are gone, and somehow, I don't miss them one bit. There's still engaging stories being told in this one, one of the new castmembers has a really good mind-bending story barely an episode into the season, Londo is a good addition as the recurring Oberon Gieger (wish he had appeared in more episodes), even the ridiculous manner in which they tried to resolve Wade's fate was interesting, the only frustrating thing was them ending the season, and series, in a deliberate gut punch hoping they'd pull off another miracle and get renewed.
-A-Team Season Five: I think the premise of the team working for the government had legs, and the three hour premiere for this is one of the show's best stories, almost finale-like. There's a good episode where Face contemplates leaving the team and I think his father gets involved in one. Again, only real drawback to this one is a crummy finale involving an elderly home.

Man, Angel could've had one more great season if they hadn't cancelled it.
But for me I'd have to say Angel, Dawson's Creek, Breaking Bad, 24, Sons of Anarchy, and The Shield.

Considering how poor 9 and 10 were, the final season of Frasier was a great return to form, and actually features two of my all time favourite episodes (The Doctor is Out and High Holidays)

The last series of The Thick of It is terrific. Rather then trying to cram too much into each show, we get episodes dedicated to each side of the government and the opposition. And then we're treated to the hour long enquiry episode, which is Armando Ianucci at his very best.

Angel, Breaking Bad & The Shield come to mind as each having a great final season, with Angel's & The Shield's both being a marked improvement over the previous season(Angel's 4th season & The Shield's 6th season).

I enjoyed the first half of Buffy season 7. The last quarter was a bit of a bore I thought.

I liked the last season of Corner Gas, but then I liked Corner Gas in general, so...
...also, The Red Green Show.

I enjoyed the first half of Buffy season 7. The last quarter was a bit of a bore I thought. What's funny was I had the opposite feeling about it lol. Final seasons I adore? Legend of Korra Angel (still my favorite show ever) If we count per character the 10th Doctors final season (counting the mini episodes) was damn good And Hannibal season three was breathtaking (the whole show was really)

Breaking Bad was terrific. It did what any true great series can do on the way out: Left you satisfied by also wishing for more.
As for an underrated great final season: E.R

Breaking Bad, as it ended when it should have done and how it should have done.
Cheers also went out on a high note, which was nice to see. I never like to see a favourite show going on way past its prime.

I got to agree with Breaking Bad, it was a roller coaster and they tied up all the storylines and went out with a satisfying ending.

I throw another vote for Breaking Bad and the Shield probably my 2 favorite final seasons ever and I'll add Justified and The Wire as final seasons I enjoyed as well

The final season of Breaking Bad is some of the darkest shit I've ever seen. I love it.

Classic Doctor Who
It's Funny because it's final season was one of the best, while not as good as seasons 13 & 14 it's up there

I might get some hate for this, but I really enjoyed the final season of Lost. I liked the Sideways world and thought Locke/Man In Black was a great final antagonist for the final season and Ab Aterno is one of the best episodes in the show's history.

One of the best episodes of a show period. I loved that final season.
