We all can agree Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the Brain Heenan, one of the greatest tandems of all time, well you wouldn't know it as Vince and company kept trying to mess with the formula either by adding a third wheel or breaking them up, and not just leave well enough alone.
In the summer of 89, you had Heenan quit both Wrestling Challenge and Prime Time Wrestling, PTW departure was short lived and I personally then the Bobby Heenan show was never suppose to be a long term thing, just a way to get Piper on the show, but the Wrestling Challenge depature that lasted till post Wrestlemania VI, and for who to give Tony Schavnue a job. Than in 1991 you have the PTW format change, you also added Jim Neinhart to the Challenge booth brienfly and when you had them starting to call PPVs, Summerslam 91 you had to install Piper into the broadcast booth, in Summerslam 92 and Survivor Seires 92 you Vince replace Gorilla. And in 1993 you had Jim Ross Gorilla on Challenge which I didn't mind to much as it seemed Gorilla was taking a less active role. And who could forget the 1993 episode or Monday Night Raw when for one episode you had Gorilla and Brain calling the action and had the worst third wheel of all Rob Bartlett, who did the impossible he got kayfabe Gorilla and the Brain to agree on something and be on the same side in hating him and wanting to turn him into a human snow man.
I guess 96 heel Jim Ross was right, Vince couldn't take a little competition.
