... Is that he knows when and how to take a good beating.
I mean, Triple H gets a lot of praise for his work with NXT, but until he (and his wife) figure out that being a villain means looking like a buffoon that gets his ass kicked once in a while, Vince will always be a superior heel.

You must not be paying attention.
HHH has looked like a Buffon many times from taking Big Show KO punch, having Bryan rough him up, Reigns destroy him, Rousey hip toss him.
Hell hes taken the bumps Steph won't.

He only got upper hand on that because he was able to break the shield from within with Rollins turning.

Exactly which plays into my point of him taking bumps Steph won't. HHH has eaten a lot of crow in his authority role

I think the difference is that while Triple H does get his ass kicked, he still has his "Gotta look strong!" moments. Evolution got destroyed, but he convinced Seth to break up The Shield. Roman beat him in that 17 hour Mania match, but Hunter still won the Rumble. You know Triple H is always just one episode of Raw from regaining the upper hand like nothing ever really happened.
Vince in his heyday was like Wile E. Coyote; he'd be sure that THIS time, his nefarious scheme would go off without a hitch but then someone would bust it all to pieces.

Vince: extended beatings from HBK, The Hart Foundation, Austin, etc. And Vince sells it like a rat caught in a trap. He begs, he pleads, he makes goofy facial expressions. He doesn't get one single iota of offense in unless it was ill-gotten with the help of a stooge. Until Triple H is willing to look that ridiculous, Vince will always be superior, in my opinion.

It's kind of insane how willing Triple H seems to be to help talent when he himself is not actively wrestling and competing with them.

Triple H may lose matches at the moment but he didn't bump around or get as many comeuppances as Vince did on a weekly basis

Vince is heavily influenced by old school hollywood though. Comparison to looney toons or like I love lucy for Vince are fair. He comes from a time when characters were over the top. Hhh is gen x and comes from a bad ass look strong and cool at all times generation.

HHH and Steph are too insecure to be on-screen authority figures.
Steph is untouchable and there's usually some bullshit to make HHH effectively win even after he's lost, or often, he'll win outright.
Vince on the other hand was amazing. This guy was always willing to get comeuppance.

For all yall that keep saying HHH does not do things effectively or he has not looked bad despite the evidence, Vince mcmahon had a literal kiss my ass club. Grown ass men had to kiss his ass on TV.

My favorite part about Vince is that it's so well-established that, in kayfabe, for all his money and blustering about being a mastermind, the dude's a goddamn idiot that gets foiled by his foes for good reason.

Then there's all the times Austin humiliated him like Bang 3:16 and the hospital scene.

Triple H was basically useless the Royal Rumble he won at last year. If you watch again he lost every standoff and Sheamus was doing everything for him.

Everybody got a Rikishi stank face tho and I am not saying Vince does not get his comeuppance but it comes in the form of Looney Tunes type action. Elmur Fudd shooting himself in the face with his own gun. As a performer HHH in authority role HHH has taken has far case of bumps and in some cases he has taken his wife bumps like with Ronda and Brie

Then there's all the times Austin humiliated him like Bang 3:16 and the hospital scene. And his entire bloody head was shoved up Show's ass in the hell in a cell. I imagine Show wanted no part of a man's blood covered face in his ass and near his genitals, but since it was the boss, you know? But to play devil's advocate, the difference between Vince and Trips, is that Trips was always a wrestler made to be a badass. Surviving battles with Cactus Jack, Stone Cold, The Rock, and Undertaker. He was what, 29 years old and in peak physical shape when he became champ for the first time? He got the ball and ran with it. Yes, with some nepotism and ego involved to stay on top. But Vince was an announcer, then the owner of WWF/E. A middle aged corporate guy. Yeah, dude was juiced out of his mind, but he wasn't beating guy's asses everynight like the guys on the roster. Seeing a jacked up Triple H fight for 20 years versus a 50 and 60 something year old Vince ATTEMPT to fight once in a blue moon is night and day. I can buy that Triple H can get in the ring and beat Reigns and Ambrose and Sami and so on, because he's been them before and has been doing this his entire life. Triple H is/was a beast. Vince is/was "The Man." The boss you want to punch. Your asshole manager. He's all bark and no bite. Not saying I want to see Triple H on top now, and I hated the guy forever. But I can literally pinpoint when I became a fan. The Cactus Jack streetfight at the Royal Rumble 2000. Me and my friends wanted him dead because he was such a bastard and Foley was going to teach him a lesson. But throughout that match, watching him take a beating and bleeding like a stuck pig, he made me say, "Damn, this guy is wrecking himself to entertain me. I want him to win now." And that was 16 year old me. But I also admit to getting tired during the "Reign of Terror." Sorry to make this so long, but this is just my reasoning as to why Triple H hasn't gone "Full Vince" yet. Maybe someday though. He's a wrestler first and foremost. Always will be known as one. Vince is the businessman first and foremost. Always will be. So it makes sense for Trips to get the upperhand every now and then. But of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Vince could go from this to this to this to this Without losing a beat. He could take a beating one week and then come back on top the next and the crowd would ALWAYS pop for him. Best heel ever.
