There's an age difference, HHH can claim that he's still just about young and in shape enough to go toe to toe with the wrestlers and Vince never was a full time wrestler. It'll be interesting to see if HHH allows himself to get convincingly beat up by roster talents when he is in his 50s and 60s as former wrestlers such as Patterson, Brisco and Slaughter did.
Steph is surely eating a Belly To Bayley at some point in 2017, they can't pass over the pop that would give them.

It is the same basic concept that has gone on in wrestling for the last 60 years. The dastardly heel does dastardly things to screw over the face for the entire program with the face getting some upper hand at times to build some suspense. In the end, the face goes over and the hell gets what he deserves. It has always drawn money and gotten eyes on the product. It is basic psychology, people always want to see the hero win in the end. Good overcomes evil.
Vince understood this as he watched it make his dad more money in his dreams than we make in our lives. It made VKM a billionaire. What made it special was that it was Vince doing it. Imagine if you could go back and tell yourself in 1995 or 1996 that the goofy 50 year old commentator would in 3 or 4 years be knocked off the side of the cage through a table, busted open, take a pipe to the skull, etc. You would tell your future self that they must have good drugs in the future and possibly ask for some stock tips.
