So he's the NXT equivalent of Orlando Jordan? No, Orlando Jordan is a legitimate bisexual who thought his gimmick was going to help people have the courage to come out (?) Though I'll credit him with the later toned down face gimmick where he just had a crush on EY and didn't stalk him was pretty OK. Patrick Clark just heard who Prince was after he died and decided this was where he'd piggyback his fame. There's just no way that the original "Dropped from the ceiling, wrapped in Police Tape and squirting (simulated) jizz all over himself" OJ gimmick was meant to help anybody. That was just dude letting his freak flag fly.

Unless it's changed in NXT since I asked Paige, you get 2 or 3 tries at throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks before creative starts trying.

Thing too is, and I'm not criticizing how he got there or anything like that, but Patrick actually was a fan 2 years ago. Like, I think you could tone it down with the "Fans are ingrates!" stuff. Film/TV industry is the same way. We get lots of yahoos who get their first PA gig and get bent out of shape when anyone dares to criticize the industry/movie they worked on/actor they saw on set. It's their way of letting everyone knowledge they're 'inside'.

Was Paige the one that came up with the anti-Diva gimmick, or was that creative? Paige and Ivelisse. Neither fit into the barbie demographic that most of the divas were at the time, and Paige just wanted to be like her mum. Of course then they ordered Evie to go blonde and wrestle like a diva so people only really remember it being on Paige.

If Patrick Clark understood his gimmick he could really be onto something.
But sadly, he doesn't. And he isn't.
Co-opting Prince is more than poorly stealing his mannerisms, and writing like he did.
