It's never made sense to me, especially with how he was portrayed in his promos. He's pretty up there for sure if he's not #1.
I also recall Cena bitching pretty bad about being eliminated from a Rumble, although that may have been via some hijinks and not simply eliminated like when Hogan was by Sid.

Hogan's tantrum at the 1989 Royal Rumble was pretty bad as well. Cleanly eliminated by Boss Man and Akeem, then drags Boss Man out from the floor and beats him up all the way to the dressing room.

Hogan's tantrum at the 1989 Royal Rumble was pretty bad as well. Cleanly eliminated by Boss Man and Akeem, then drags Boss Man out from the floor and beats him up all the way to the dressing room. Just watched this and holy crap, how did anyone keep cheering for him? Boss Man legit didn't do anything illegal to him and he just flipped out. What a crock...The Body was right all these years. |

There was also the run in at the first Survivor Series. He was clearly counted out and eliminated, but still attacked Andre after the match and posed like he was the sole survivor.
Jesse seemed legitimately angry on commentary, even by his standards.

I think part of hogans character was despite being a face he had a sense of entitlement and felt like everyone owed him something and when he felt wronged he would lose it

I wish Macho Man dealt with Hogan's whining, bitching and complaining after World War III in the same way that Austin tore into Bret Hart's whining, bitching and complaining after the '97 Royal Rumble.
I know Macho Man was a face and Austin a heel, but I'd have just loved to see him shut Hogan down and put him in his place.

Bret Hart seemed to take his loss to Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997 pretty poorly. Bad sportsmanship on the part of the Hitman.

It's a little hard for me to feel any sympathy for the Big Bossman in the 1989 Rumble. Dude handcuffed his opponents to the ropes after matches and beat them senseless and had done this to Hogan on the Brother Love Show. Sure Hogan was eliminated legally, but so was the Bossman - there are no rules in the Rumble. This guy and Akeem had tried to injure people left and right and were left 2 on 1 with Hogan's friend. So Hulk made a move. Doesn't bother me at all.
It is funny to think that Hogan only lost a handful of matches in his first WWF run and threw some kind of tantrum after nearly every single one. Only exceptions are Warrior, where he was gracious, and Yokozuna, because he was blind and injured.

But Macho's paranoia and abuse of Liz (the one real sympathetic figure in the angle) made him the de facto heel. |
