i really hope so because mam is one of my favorite workers in chikara. i always enjoy his matches but feel like he did not have much direction this year. if it is not kayfabe then i guess that is ok too. hopefully he will get booked more elsewhere. seeing him beat blaster at neofight was fun.

They seem to be adding a bunch of new events for season 19 but no King of Trios announced thus far.... Dont they always announce King of Trios later or like first event of the year? [twitterid=945299869903794178] They have almost always announced it on Christmas. And if the tweet isn’t working, they did it again this year. August 31st, September 1st, and September 2nd...BACK IN PENNSYLVANIA! (Although unclear on whether or not it’ll be in the Funplex)

I don't know if it's because of venue availability, or just sheer stubbornness, but running the same weekend as BOLA is frustrating.

There has to be a reason we're not privy to that they keep doing this. Even if it's as simple and as disappointing as Quackenbush and PWG have beef for whatever reason and Quack is delusional and thinks he can "stick it" to PWG by doing this. Maybe it's something to do with the foreign talent he's been bringing in for the tournaments, the Joshi and the like? Maybe it's easier to schedule them during that time period for whatever reason.

Because Quack is stubborn and refuses to admit his show's less important than the one that Hollywood Celebs want to be seen at.

It could be that it's the only dates they can get this year. I kinda hope it's that. Otherwise Quack is doing the company and the fans a major disservice. This is the first year it's really an issue. Two years ago, they had no idea BOLA would be running Labor Day, they had never done that before. Last year, they're in England, plus, they didn't know if PWG would do Labor Day again. It seems very clear that PWG wants to plant their flag on these dates now, so you gotta back away if you can. If you can't, it is what it is, though I would make that fact pretty clear.

Labor Day weekend is a uniquely good weekend for me for Trios. So, I’m happy with it and, since Trios usually draws from such a diverse talent pool and has never disappointed me in Pennsylvania, I’ll expect a good time this year as well.

Desean Pratt who formerly wrestled as Amasis of the Osirian Portal has announced his retirement. He’s even deleted his Twitter. Sometimes those announcements seem like they’re done for attention but he seems to be legitimately done. Really sad news since the guy has a ton of talent.

If Pratt is truly done honestly he had a hell of a career, and considering he had a career threatening injury in like 2011 and healed to the point he was cleared to wrestle again and had a great return and overall run, I'd say he has nothing to be ashamed of if that's it. A shame he never got a WWE look though, he had a ton of potential.

I think the logic is that a long weekend people can get time off for leads to higher ticket sales (even competing with another event) than a normal weekend people can't take off? I don't think this is all that silly a decision.

Sucks that it's the same weekend as BOLA for some of the talent, but mostly it sucks for Chikara. Even if this is some kind of bold move to stick it to PWG, they're running their events in opposite corners of the country. There's no real mystery about which one the top talent is going to pick, but this also means that the talent that doesn't get booked for BOLA still have a major event they can work that weekend instead.

I hate that he has to step away from the business. Was rooting for him after he left. Speaking of which, I just got thinking about Shynron, hadn't seen him around a lot, then found out that he changed his name, and now it looks like his social media presence has been completely deleted too. It really sucks seeing these guys disappear.

It really sucks seeing these guys disappear. Shynron changed his name to Zenshi. He’s still around and he’s still on twitter. I was hoping Amasis would return to CHIKARA and team up with 17 (the real Ophidian) to take out Whisper (the fake Ophidian) and the new (fake) Amasis. I don’t see much of a pay off here now. I suppose 17 eliminates them on his own. 17 might have run the newer Amasis out already considering the way Frightmare disappeared. We didn’t even know he was gone for sure until much later. I wonder what’s causing this mass exodus from CHIKARA. It’s really disappointing. I saw Kevin Condron tweet a while back that anyone that complained about something was replaced by students that worked for free. Maybe it’s come down to that. Why pay guys that have been around when you got others that will work for free? I hope not. Idk.

For a bunch of reasons, Chikara has a lot of weekend warriors. Poor Amasis is one of those guys that I kind of always thought might make a go of it, but he must have decided a while ago wrestling wasn't his career.

I can agree that guys are getting older and need a better income than wrestling on weekends even though the majority of them have other jobs. I can’t agree that Amasis didn’t try for more. The Amasis gimmick was clearly CHIKARA’s so he was making a go of it as Desean Pratt since he even lost the mask on the way out. Desean was posting his dream opponents on twitter and that he was looking forward to the new year because good things were happening. I think the opportunities just weren’t there. Which is a real shame because he definitely deserved recognition. He put the time in. He’s got a great look. He’s a fun promo. He always had solid matches. I never watched an Amasis match and got bored. He could go with anybody. I don’t think he had an in to get where he wanted to be. A lot of things in wrestling are about who you know and he spent way too much time in CHIKARA. CHIKARA has fallen off the radar somewhat in recent years. Maybe Chris Hero was right. He said the masked gimmicks are holding guys back from succeeding on their own.

I don't know the full story, but the common story seems to be Quack convincing them to Big League a few promoters.
