I can agree that guys are getting older and need a better income than wrestling on weekends even though the majority of them have other jobs. I can’t agree that Amasis didn’t try for more. The Amasis gimmick was clearly CHIKARA’s so he was making a go of it as Desean Pratt since he even lost the mask on the way out. Desean was posting his dream opponents on twitter and that he was looking forward to the new year because good things were happening. I think the opportunities just weren’t there. Which is a real shame because he definitely deserved recognition. He put the time in. He’s got a great look. He’s a fun promo. He always had solid matches. I never watched an Amasis match and got bored. He could go with anybody. I don’t think he had an in to get where he wanted to be. A lot of things in wrestling are about who you know and he spent way too much time in CHIKARA. CHIKARA has fallen off the radar somewhat in recent years. Maybe Chris Hero was right. He said the masked gimmicks are holding guys back from succeeding on their own. Amasis and Ophidian burned some bridges a few years ago when the Portal started to get bigger. I don't know the full story, but the common story seems to be Quack convincing them to Big League a few promoters. I don’t know about any of that, unless you’re referring to the CZW stuff. I know they shorted Eddie Kingston on pay. Then DJ Hyde did a shoot interview burying Quack and spreading some rumors about him. Hyde even claimed he originally trained Ophidian and Amasis which they deny. You didn’t see any CHIKARA guys working there after that stuff. I doubt that hurt them at all. You might be talking about something altogether different. Idk. |

Amasis and Ophidian burned some bridges a few years ago when the Portal started to get bigger. I don't know the full story, but the common story seems to be Quack convincing them to Big League a few promoters. I don’t know about any of that, unless you’re referring to the CZW stuff. I know they shorted Eddie Kingston on pay. Then DJ Hyde did a shoot interview burying Quack and spreading some rumors about him. Hyde even claimed he originally trained Ophidian and Amasis which they deny. You didn’t see any CHIKARA guys working there after that stuff. I doubt that hurt them at all. You might be talking about something altogether different. Idk. After the shoot The Portal came back to CZW for a couple months. (where he even explained the Kingston getting shortchanged due to breaking something and the venue owners had a rule that you had to pay for something if you broke it). Him doing a killer gimmick isn't cool in CHIKARA when it's established he has blown up school children and CHIKARA has literally been "killing" characters over the past several years like absolutely nothing?? Seems kinda sketchy... i mean have you watched the videos? not saying i am right but if this is chikara this is the most extreme thing i have seen them do. i like it because i like him but it really does not have a chikara feel. unless they are going like super dark this season. |
