We're in Baton Rouge tonight as SmackDown needs to get more people into the Royal Rumble Match, and 205 Live does what it does...
Three matches are already announced for the Blue Brand, the biggest being the showdown between John Cena and Baron Corbin. The Lone Wolf got involved in Cena's contract signing with AJ Styles for the WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble, and stated his intention of entering the Royal Rumble Match (so far being the sole SmackDown entrant, unless you count The Undertaker as a SmackDown guy). If Big Banter wins the Rumble, there's a possibility he could face Cena for the title at WrestleMania, so this is a chance to lay down a big marker over Big Match Jawn. You'd have to think Styles will get involved though with under three weeks to go until San Antonio...
Following American Alpha's win of the SmackDown Tag Team Titles a couple of weeks ago, the Wyatt Family are cashing in their rematch clause, and will get their shot tonight. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan did well to win the titles, but now they come up against Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton both seeking vengeance... however, they may have a saving grace in that cracks are starting to show between Orton and Luke Harper. Will those be fixed ahead of tonight, or will something happen to allow Alpha to retain?
The third match pits Nikki Bella against the woman who attacked her at Survivor Series, Natalya. The Hart Family member has shown clear jealousy over Bella's position in the WWE, and how she should be getting the opportunities that Nikki is getting. Natalya claims that John Cena will eventually leave Bella, and that Nikki will die alone... how will Nikki react to this in their match?
There was the small matter of Dean Ambrose winning the Intercontinental Title last week, though The Miz has the claim that the referee should have disqualified him for Maryse interfering, and therefore should still be the champion. Referee leniency worked against The Miz here when he didn't want it, as the match continued, and Ambrose won the title. Ambrose claimed that Miz loved the IC Title more than he loves Maryse, so maybe Miz tests the other way round to see if Ambrose loves the IC Title more than he loves Renee Young...
There's now TWO La Luchadoras! Becky Lynch thought she had the mystery all solved when she defeated the masked lady last week, only to find out she had actually defeated SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss (unintended benefit, she has another shot at the title lined up from this), leading to another La Luchadora emerging to help Bliss attack the Irish Lass Kicker. Will Becky get any closer to finding out the true identity tonight?
Dolph Ziggler finally snapped last week - after losing to Baron Corbin, Kalisto came out to help him, but Dolph didn't want any help, and attacked the former US Champion. Once he got backstage, Apollo Crews questioned him on his actions, and he attacked Crews as well. Ziggler has clearly reached his limit over his recent frustrations, what's next for him now he's annoyed the good guy locker room?
All this and much more tonight from 8/7c on USA! Then...
205 Live this evening features Cruiserweight Champ Rich Swann taking on Tony Nese in a non-title match, with Neville surely looking on, Cedric Alexander once again taking on Noam Dar following Alicia Fox dismissing Dar as "not being able to handle a real woman" on RAW last night, and Jack Gallagher has invited Ariya Daivari to a "parlay" to try and resolve their issues. All this and more from 10/9c on the WWE Network, followed by Talking Smack!
