James cameron can save the Terminator franchise without making a movie, Just say everything after T2 is non cannon.
T2 ends perfectly, Now a better movie set during the "Man vs Machines war" I'm down with

said this in the bad sequels thread, but TERMINATOR GENYSIS is a damn fine movie, third best in the franchise imo, and doesn't really NEED to be retconned
do that for ALIENS though

There's no saving this franchise, because it's a franchise that didn't need to be longer than two films.

I've never seen or wanted to see anything after T2; as far as I'm concerned, these are the only two Termy films that are necessary.

Rocks brought in. Calling it now.
I think most are Terminator-exhausted. But maybe Cameron can bring life back into it.

The Trilogy of Failed Trilogies all pretty much act like the movie that came before it didn't happen. Though I guess that can be explained via time travel...

So it'll be three hours long and have no likable characters but inexplicably make a shitton of money?

I'd rather see him make a movie where the Xenomorphs destroy the Na'vi.

A Terminator film directed by James Cameron showing the future war and that's it. That's all I want honestly.

There's no saving this franchise, because it's a franchise that didn't need to be longer than two films. Exactly. There's nowhere equally or more interesting to go after the ending of T2. The T-800 saying goobye to the Connor's and doing the thumbs up as he melts away, followed by Sarah's closing monologue is too perfect. It's a magnificent ending to the series.

A proper Terminator future war film needs to be made. Not the atrocity directed by McG or the extremely watered down introduction in Genysis. But one filmed exactly like Terminator 1 or 2. That's all I want. Terminator 3 is a guilty pleasure so I won't knock it.

Harlon Ellison's still alive, rather than pay him royalties for nicking his concepts, just get him to outline a plot

If they really want another Terminator movie, I outlined an idea ages ago, where the human resistance sends a team of soldiers back in time to kill Miles Dyson's mother in the 1960's, but SkyNet sends a terminator to protect her. It'll be a twist on the first film where this time, the humans are the "enemy". In the end, when she realises what her son will eventually create, she kills herself. It'd be a movie in the same tradition of T1 and T2, but in a new setting and a bittersweet ending.

I love Terminator, all of the films. All of the comics and video games "expanded universe" stuff. I also still like Cameron a lot. So this has me PUMPED.

I'm not sure this franchise can survive outside of Arnold's presence. I enjoyed the last one though.

Will be tough to do outside of making them prequels in the sense of the war before altering timelines.
