My laptop is an ASUS that I bought in 2009. Up until this month I've been running off of the original HDD and Windows Vista.
This weekend I finally installed an SSD I got for Christmas and put a clean install of Windows 7 on it, which I then upgraded to 10 using Windows Accessibility (honors system which still allows a free upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 if you say you use accessibility software)
I knew the SSD would be an upgrade, but I didn't appreciate just how much. From minutes of start up time to seconds. The clean OS install I'm sure also helped a lot.
I'd highly recommend doing it, if you aren't in a place to get an entirely new system.

Yup, upgrading to a SSD and upgrading your RAM are pretty much the two best ways to make a laptop feel like new.

I've got a laptop going on 5 years now that doesn't run like it used to, so I think I'll look into the SSD option. (Though I might just cave and buy another laptop soon. )
