A film flub was created that seems to have resulted in "Greedo shooting first" in all of our Star Wars DVDs and Blu-Rays. "Happy" 20th, Star Wars Special Edition.  |

The original Greedo scene was brilliant in two regards.
1- Showing how ruthless Han was, thus forming an arc when he selflessly returns in the finale to help his friend.
2- The sheer hilarity of Greedo just dropping dead head first onto the table.
Lucas understood none of this.

Greedo is my favorite Star Wars character. I hope to play Young Greedo (or as I'd like to stylize it, Yung Gr33do) in one of the prequels.
But yeah, I remember going to see the Star Wars special editions and getting Taco Bell for lunch and the Taco Bell being really, really good.

And from now on, the Special Edition has been the "official" version of the story longer than the theatrical release.

And from now on, the Special Edition has been the "official" version of the story longer than the theatrical release. I try not to get mad over stuff like this, but that really upsets me for some reason. And I'm not even an anti Special Edition purist or anything. |

I find it hilarious that George Lucas didn't want Han to be portrayed as a vicious killer.
First off, Han was a smuggler for one of the biggest crime lords in the galaxy, Jabba the Hutt. Not really a hero-type, so to speak.
Second, Greedo had a blaster aimed at Han's face, looking to take him out. In Han's defense, I would've shot first too.
So, in retrospect, Han Shot First? You damn right he did. Self defense against a bounty hunter.

Came out right after I finally got into Star Wars. So exciting as it was the gateway to the entire fandom for me.
