Is it really worth getting one or is it mainly for people that play PC games? I also doubt my desktop would support a 4K Monitor so I would likely have to buy a new videocard or just a new desktop in general. Anyone here own one?

Well, YouTube and Netflix do offer 4K content, but as someone who's not even sold on 4K TVs, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to specifically buy a 4K monitor.

What's the price of it? I see the value in a monitor but not for the TV unless they start having 4k channels and gaming and more 4k streaming services.

The 4k Monitors I see at Best Buy range from around $300 to up to about $1000. The issue is that I'd likely have to get a new desktop as well if I want to take full advantage of the 4K as far as I know.

I guess it all really comes down to the matter of how much gaming you do and how much you like it. Like I'm mostly a TV/Movies guy but since Netflix or other streaming services don't have much 4K content and they don't have offer 4K channels and if they do it'll probably be double the amount cable is worth now, I doubt I'll be getting a 4K TV anytime soon.

unless you have a GTX 1080, no. Yeah, pretty much what I figured. It wouldn't be worth it without a great desktop.

I don't think there's enough mainstream content out there to warrant the purchase of that kind of hardware. If I were you, I wouldn't buy one now unless you absolutely need to get a new monitor and you're getting a good deal on the most current technology rather than the 1080P LEDs that were all the rage just a short while ago.

Yeah, I think I'll wait awhile until I get one. The prices of one of the desktops that I would need for it alone doesn't justify it.

That's where I'm at too. There's so few games and content providers using 4K (from what I hear even the Netflix offerings are skimpy) that, for now, there's really not much that's gonna take full advantage. You're essentially buying a monitor for a resolution you'll only hit a small fraction of the time you're using it, unless your computer is literally just going to serve as a Netflix/YouTube stream machine more than anything else.
