I'm confident that Whedon would insist on a continuation rather than rebooting. Castle ended last year, so Nathan Fillion is free. It also seems like Morena Baccarin's character has been mostly written out on Gotham, so she may be free as well (I'm like 12 episodes behind, so I'm not positive on this).

Yeah, the problem since Serenity has been that most of the cast have been too busy to be able to commit rather than any lack of interest in participating in a revival. This could be as close as they ever get to doing a revival, as only Tudyk has a full-time commitment to another show (Powerless) and they'd have to treat Serenity as non-canon to make him a necessary part of the cast. With Ron Glass no longer with us it's not as if they could possibly do a full reunion anyway.

Really, I think the only person in the main crew that might not be involved would be Adam Baldwin, for...reasons.

Don't see the point really. Outside of its cult status it really doesn't have any success and its main legacy is contributing to the idea of Fox repeatedly screwing over Joss Whedon.
Really if anything it seems like it's just a handicap. I haven't watched it but you're inviting comparisons to the original show beloved by people who'll be inclined to see a remake as a step down unless it's spectacular, while not actually gaining anything from the name value because it doesn't really have any. There's nothing to be gained from doing this instead of just doing a new sci-fi show instead.

That would be a sad show.
Two action heroes and a whore dealing with ageing. A widow mourning the loss of her husband. A couple struggling with the stresses of caring for their disabled and potentially dangerous family member.
River may end up being the most balanced member of the crew.

Firefly/Serenity got its ending and does not need a reboot. It would just be compared as stated above. I love the show and movie, but the only thing I would like to see if anything is the fallout from what happens in the movies end.

Ugh.
I didn't like Firefly, but people's inability to f***ing let it go just intensifies my hatred for it.
