I had no real interest in reviving Scarface again at all...but the Coens?
Now you have my attention.

Please Fuqua no more remakes. But shit now I'm interested. Like Scarface really only works as a time capsule movie with the same plotline but different setting and slightly different social commentary.

How dare they remake an old film that itself was a remake of even older film.

After the phenomenal True Grit remake, the Coen Brothers have earned my trust, I think they can pull it off.

sod that SCARFACE FROM MARS ..... Bigfoot deals drugs? Merge Scarface, Dune and Bigfoot facts. Guy builds an empire on Mars by selling invaluable Bigfoot turds that make you trip balls. At the end he snorts a mountain of shit, rides a giant worm and has a shootout with hillbilly bigfoot hunters.

I absolutely believe they can pull this off and I like their angle on the story from what I'm reading here. So it sounds like, instead of retelling the Cuban/Miami early 80's cocaine scene, they're freshening things up by using the Mexico/LA (insert drug here, my guess would be heroin) scene. What era they use remains to be seen but late 90's or early 2000's seems the most likley. They can easily pull material from all of the brutal cartel stories that we've all heard about and weave it into some spellbinding shit.

The Coens are 50/50 on doing remakes:
True Grit - awesome The Ladykillers - shithouse
But I will hold hopes for this one.

Whoever plays Tony has big shoes to fill. I can't see a remake ever overshadowing Paul Muni's performance.

The Coens are incredible, but if David Mackenzie (Hell Or High Water) wound up directing it, I wouldn't mind that either.

I thought of him too, especially after No Country For Old Men, but I think his size goes against him - he's too imposing, you'd want someone average sized who doesn't look threatening but turns out to be a badass.

Wonder how they fit in all of their usual actors into this. Who will Clooney play?

Much like the 80's Al Pacino film it'll be nothing like the movie they're remaking. And that's a good thing.
