Anyone else read the comics? This was recommended to me by someone, and aside from the two recent cartoons, I honestly don't know a lot about Transformers stuff, but this series is pretty great. It's at it's third "season", being renamed from MTMTE to Lost Light, and two issues in it seems to begin answering some questions at the start of the series, such as Rung's alt-mode.

I love the MTMTE series, its easily the best transformers IDW and I'd even say it tops MArvel Uks 80s run. I follow it via the trade paperbacks, so wouldn't be as update with people you get the individual issues. Its incrdebilby clever, witty and even touching at times. Cant recommend it enough to people who hopefully see past 'an advertisement for toys.'

Its incrdebilby clever, witty and even touching at times. Don't forget rather horrifying at times. If the characters weren't robots, a ton of scenes involving the DJD with be straight up gore. And even if the characters are robotic, it's still pretty dang violent. That said, Tarn does look rather badass. Anyway, the first two "seasons" are definitely fun stuff. That said, the first season was kinda stronger overall, but the second season's penultimate arc was crazy. Also, with regards to what's already known in season 2, {Spoiler}Megatron as an Autobot is actually pretty nice.

Yeah, the action is good as well. I loved when they {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} found the alternative lost light which had a visit from the DJD. Brutal stuff! Some of the limes are fantastic. Rodimus: Team Rodimus are well up for it!" Ultra Magnus: "Is well up for it. Team Rodimus is well up for it. Singular. One team." Rodimus: "Whatever. Chop-chop!" {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} Megatron "When did you first realize that he uses bad grammar to distract you whenever you raise an objection to something he wants to do?" Ultra Magnus: "He does WHAT?" I'm actually rereading MTMME from the start since last night. I reckon it will be cool a s i'll be able to pick up on all the small clues they've planted.

Yes, it's amazing.
I've been chronologically re-reading the entire run of Hasbro comics from IDW. I'm currently at Combiner Wars. MTMTE stands head and shoulders above everything else quality wise. And that's saying something, because John Barber's stuff is pretty damn good too.
I think my favorite thing about it is what a dense read it is without feeling slow. Most modern comics take me like 5 or 10 minutes to read, but MTMTE takes me like half an hour. More bang for my buck.

Reading the Dying of the Light again. One hell of a story, and while it's the penultimate story of the season, it feels more definitely like a finale while the 2-part story after was more of a tying up some lose ends thing. Getaway, Skids, Megatron, Ravage, Tarn. Like, daaaaaaaaamn. Stuff happened, and it happened hard.

So I've bought a couple of the hardcover collection volumes. So far I've read volumes 1, and 5. 1 had Megatron Origins, some spotlights issues, and Infiltration. But honestly until Infiltration, didn't do a whole lot for me. Especially Megatron Origins which felt very hollow. 5 had All Hail Megatron, and I thought it was great. I'm definitely interested at continuing at my snails pace of reading these. I haven't decided if I should go back and fill up the gaps, or just continue to pick and choose titles. The next one I've got is Volume 6 which has Last Stand of the Wreckers.
Either way, between this comic, and the awesome toys coming out, my inner child has become very restless.

So, issue 3 of Lost Light is out. Some spoilers beware: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}On parallel universe functionist Cybertron, Rung's alt-mode. Some sort of drill tank. Could be a lie, since the drill tank is huge and Rung is relatively tiny, and from what was seen on previous books he looked like some sort of pole.
On Necroworld, it's the return of Whirl's nemesis: Killmaster! The one with the wand. Ten is seemingly zapped into nothing. Swerve too.
With regards to Killmaster, since apparently Team Rodimus being pushed into a parallel universe by a malfunctioning geobomb, it would feel that Killmaster would have some role to play, since I recall that he designed a moongun that was later adapted by the galactic council into the geobomb.
I can't believe I remember that.

Issue 7 is out. Daaaaaaaamn. {Spoiler}Daaaaaaaaaamn, suddenly that ending. That was nasty. Previous episode was rather bittersweet with Megatron leaving Team Rodimus, and then suddenly Tailgate buried alive with possibly no one knowing where the hell he is.

This issue was a step in the right direction. The storyline of them in the Functionist universe was boring.

Didn't read the spoilers. But any idea when we'll be getting new trades?

Easily my favorite rendition of Transformers ever. Hands down.
Had some fun on a TF group on Facebook with casting an animated version. Here's what I came up with so far.
Rodimus: Judd Nelson, definitely. This Roddy is more Judd than movie Hot Rod was.
Tarn: Keith David. Hands down.
Swerve: Tom Kenny
Tailgate: Billy West
Brainstorm: David Tennant
Whirl: Nolan North
Overlord: David Kaye
Getaway: Karl Urban.
Killmaster: whoever voiced LRRRR Of Omicron Persei 8.
Pipes and Trailbreaker: George Wendt and John Ratzenberger.
Fort Max: Patrick Warburton.

This issue was a step in the right direction. The storyline of them in the Functionist universe was boring. {Spoiler}Yeah. There were some good moments, but for most part it didn't feel quite connected to the story, and seemed to only serve as a way to get Megatron out of the story (maybe only for now). Megatron as a face-like character was surprisingly well-done, though it felt like the second season of MTMTE was mostly revolved around him. But man, it was rather sad that episode 6 and 7 made it so that Megatron more or less parted on bad terms with Rodimus and Ultra Magnus, even though he had no choice in the matter.

Slightly off topic, but I came across a panel of another TF comic(Robots in Disguise maybe?) Which was basically Laserbeak and Buzzsaw pulling off their best Statler and Waldorf routine, and it was absolutely amazing.
