If this is truly the end for them, remember what I said earlier. For them to have lived this long means that you had given them the best life possible. This forum also is really good when it comes to comforting those in need.

I'm very sorry to hear this, edgestar. I remember being with my childhood best friend when his dog had to be put down. It was very sad, but I was glad I was there for him to lean on. Take solace in your family and loved ones. I have no doubt you all provided a happy life for your dog.

Oh no, I'm so sorry - I was dreading seeing a post like this. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
At least he's at peace now - it might not be of any comfort now, but hopefully it'll help in the days to come.

Charlie ran out when mom and I got home. I picked him up, and told him I loved him. He was always there to help Jake.

I'm so sorry. I have a 15 month old female Jack Russell and i've grown so attached to her. I couldn't bear to be without her. I've given her a hug tonight.
Everything will be ok though.

Jake was 15 years old. He'd be 16 on March 28th. The vet said his heart had a bad murmur, and he was showing signs of dementia.

I'm so sorry. I have lost several pets over the years and it never gets easier. My dog is 15 years old currently and he has his good days and bad days. I know that I probably don't have many more years left with him so I try to cherish what I have now. He may surprise me and live a few more years but I have already started preparing myself for it. Again, I am very sorry for your loss.

We lost our family dog, named Jake, at the age of 16, 6 years ago this month. So this really hits home for me. It's exactly like losing a member of your immediate family, because that's what they are. I am, so, so sorry. I've been through this more times than I can count, so if you need to talk, PM me.

I'm sorry to hear that man. We lost three dogs over the past few months (ranging in age from 12 to 6). It's tough, but just know that you guys were good for him and he was well loved.
