It's a strong argument.

On one hand I can definitely see his point. But First Class and the ending of Apocalypse is proof that bright and colorful costumes can and do look good in certain circumstances. Just put Wolverine in the outfit that Negasonic wore in Deadpool and fans will be happy. He doesn't even have to wear the mask.

It actually looked really good.

See after watching the marvel universe movies I would love to see someone at least try a variant of it. Like I never thought I'd see the Deadpool outfit working or Captain America's (at least in a big budget movie) but it's been proven to work. Even if you have to rework the outfit or leave out the mask I still think it could work.

Even the helmet they teased in the Blu-Ray deleted ending scene for the Wolverine looked badass. Should've left that in the theatrical version.

So essentially, the story Kevin Smith tells about the Superman producer considering the costume "too faggy" is how this guy sees Wolverine? Awesome.

I remember pondering when I was a kid as to why he wore a mask in the first place.

I don't agree with his criticism of the costume itself, but in terms of Wolverine's personality he has a good point.

The "it only works on the page" is utter nonsense and has always been the case and the Marvel movies have pretty much proven that.
Not to mention the original Superman movies and to an extent the Batman movies.
You can easily make it work, you just don't want to try.
the rest of his points... that's kinda the point of the yellow and blue outfit... they are x-men colors and by wearing it he is promoting what they do (he is a curmudgeonly bastard but he does generally believe in teh x-men's overall cause) ...and the mask is there so people don't recognize him when he's not slicing things and leave him alone.

I always thought of the X-Men in the yellow and blue as a sign of brotherhood and teamwork. Now, why they had non blue and yellow costumes at any point I never understood.
That being said, I'm totally fine with him not wearing that outfit in the movies. I think of Hugh Jackman Wolverine and comic book Wolverine as two different things. Sorta like how Batman in a movie works better with a black outfit, but comic book Batman works best with black and gray or blue and gray.

I'd like for whoever plays Wolverine next to wear the costume to make it a clearer divide between Jackman and whoever follows.

My favorite look of Wolverine ever was his X-Men Legends 2 costume. It was a nice mix of the Logan from the films with some visual elements taken from the comics.

Then f*** you, You nobody. Harp on the thing that makes these X-Men film seem so dated. Have fun. You'll get shuffled out in the next reboot or two.

It's a uniform.
That's why you do it. That's where he got it.
You can argue for whether Logan in the movies would wear such a uniform; bu that's why.

You'd think a dude named Mangold would be more in favor of the yellow costume than a dude with no mentions of gold in his name.

I don't see how narcissism is a factor when superheroes wear costumes; they do it because they either have to or it hides their identity. Superman doesn't have to wear his costume, but he wears it as a symbol of hope and helps hide his identity. Even if you've got a healing factor or are immune to most Earth weapons, why would you want to create hassle for yourself by letting everyone know who you are? Unless you're Tony Stark, that is.

The outfit is fine, I'd be down for Jackman wearing it. The mask, however, is the goofiest-looking thing imaginable and barely works for me on the page, much less real life.

Well, now whether the movie is good or not, I hope he never touches another superhero property. Superheroes come from a world that's silly, deal with it.
Another jackass ashamed to be doing movies about comic books. Take your attitude and go film some more cowboy movies.
