I'm heading there next month and wanted to know of any decent hotels to stay at, looking to check out some of the tourist attractions there and wanted some advice. Any suggestions?

Can you be more specific about the area you'll be in? LA is ridiculously spread out.

When I was in LA last April I stayed at the Aventura Hotel in Koreatown. It was a very nice hotel at a decent price and driving-wise was pretty convenient to the major sites. That said the neighborhood around the hotel was horrible, so I wouldn't go walking around outside of it too much.
If you have the money I'd stay at Loews Hollywood Hotel. It's in the Hollywood and Highland Center mall and right in the middle of all the Hollywood action and pretty central to just about all the tourist stuff. Of course it's the equivalent of getting a hotel room in the middle of Times Square, so I'd imagine it's pretty damn expensive.
