I'm watching Birdemic for the first time... And, its not even good in a camp manner.
Its a godawful movie made by a delusional nut case who thinks his shit doesn't stink. Same is likely for his others.
Not even Rifftrax is making it tolerable.

Even as a guy who worries about the environment, that was one of the most pretentious movies I've ever seen.
I even remember watching it for the first time, and during the speech that the guy in the woods gave, I actually said out loud, "Oh go f*** yourself, you pretentious asshole."

So you clearly haven't seen Birdemic 2, which is just worse.
And what does work in that movie is clearly 1 or 2 actors actively not giving a shit and making things enjoyable in spite of everything else.

Allison Pregler's reviews of Replica and Julie and Jack opened me up to the fact that not only are Birdemic and Birdemic 2 basically the same movie, so are those. The dude is a bigger hack than Tommy Wisseau or Ed Woods.

He has good intentions. Questionable understanding of the fundamentals, but good intentions.
I did find myself rather enjoying the second Birdemic, though it was significantly more self aware of exactly what type of movie it was.

Whenever I see anything like Birdemic or The Room, or some other obvious piece of shit, I always presume the person responsible is either mentally ill, or a Kaufman-level comedic genius.

Good intentions executed absolutely horribly: Plan 9, Space Mutiny, The Room, Troll 2 etc.

The actors probably were, but I don't think the director quite understands how abominable his movies are.

But he's the Master of the Romantic Thriller! No, really, he trademarked that.

The most hilarious thing about Birdemic (from what I can tell from clips as I have yet to see the whole thing) is that for a work that is so passionate about ecology, it really understands f***-all about environmental issues. It really feels like talking with someone who went to a conference on environmental protection, had his mind blown away by what he heard and is now trying to repeat it to you but doesn't remember it very well and is getting everything mixed up.

To be fair Lionsgate nearly bought the rights so they can make a big budgeted remake with him as a producer before he leaked everything online and this was before it became really mega well known.

I've always liked to test my mettle by sitting through the worst movies I can find. So far, Uwe Boll's House of the Dead has been the only one I couldn't make it through, so I'm curious how bad this one rates on that scale.

Like, I found it less unbearable than Bigfoot vs DB Cooper, but it's still really bad, worse than Troll 2 or The Room, if you're going for infamous movies.

I've sat through both of those, so now my curiosity is piqued.

Additionally, if you end up finding it funny or bearable, the second one is almost the same movie but with *slightly* better production values, which doesn't seem to be able to decide if the events of the first film happened or not. So if you hate it and tap out, don't bother with the second one.

Really, in between the driving montages & the overwhelming desire to have a f***ing picnic while diseased birds attack, there's random stuff discussing global warming & alternative energy. But, you get some old guy saying "I'm not basing it off of scientific facts, but here's the scientific facts" & a tree hugger ranting about bark beetles. It comes far more off as having a soapbox than integrating it to the story. I'm all for camp, but I can't see it as a heroic failure. Its on par with Seltzerburg, whom burp out crap they see in trailers, and Tommy Wiseau, where they legit believe they are awesome.
