I really liked Exiles. This video did nothing but reinforce that opinion & memory.

What happened to Events Comics month? That's in May, I believe. March is Retrospective Month (March Of The Titans, ROMtrospective, Blue Beetle and now Exiles).

Exiles was a really good series, it's a shame Marvel seems to have no interest in bringing it back.

Exiles was a really good series, it's a shame Marvel seems to have no interest in bringing it back. X-TREME X-MEN (the 2nd/non-Claremont series) was an odd attempt to tap that vein, but it was a far cry from that proper Exiles team.

this brings up an interesting question.
How do you pronounce 616?
I always say Six One Six it seems more scientific and clinical to me... since Reed is responsible for the designation it seems like it fits better.

Linkara is the first that I've heard do six sixteen. Then again, I always wonder why the main Marvel timeline is given that number of all of them. DC at least does Earth 1 and Earth 2 and such, with our Earth being "Earth Prime".

I kinda liked that Marvel used a higher number like that... sicne why would the real world we're used to be Number 1? that seems to convenient... then you have all the other Earth's wondering why THEY aren't #1.

Have they clarified what Earth the main Marvel Universe is on? Mostly because I swear that after Secret Wars, the Earth we know is Earth Prime but that seems to change from comic to comic.

Originally it was said to be Earth prime and the editors were basically saying anyone that said 616 was stupid... . but then the Web Warriors kept referring to it as 616...

Ok, first of all, Linkara needs to retire that "Previously on Atop the Fourth Wall" bit. The novelty has worn off.
So I was never a regular reader of Exiles, but I remember it getting a lot of critical praise during Winick's run and did pick up an issue here and there. I always wondered what happened to the story.
Chris Claremont killed it? Doesn't surprise me. Frank Miller gets a lot of (much-deserved) scorn for being a writer that was revolutionary in the 70's/80's but not being able to cut it in the 21st century, but Claremont and John Byrne are solid seconds in that category. Claremont should not be writing modern mainstream comics anymore.
You know the thing I never understood about the Exiles concept? Marvel has a rich history of parallel universe and alternate timelines. Why does this series have to make up new worlds whole cloth from scratch? I'd find it much more interesting if the whole series was dedicated to the "World Tour" concept.

Well they did use some of the actual ones occasionally.
For instance Age of Apocolypse was used a bunch, I mean Blink and Sabretooth are both from that timeline and they do go to that timeline a few times as well.
not to mention 2099, and the New Earth or whatever it was called were parts of storylines as well.

DC at least does Earth 1 and Earth 2 and such, with our Earth being "Earth Prime". The point of the numbering was that it was a random number, signifying that the MU reality was just one of an infinite number of realities, none more important than the other. The numbering system (in-story) had been created by beings who oversaw them all and there's no reason why "our" MU was the first one they designated with a number.

The numbering system (in-story) had been created by beings who oversaw them all and there's no reason why "our" MU was the first one they designated with a number. It really is interesting how differently the main companies approach it. DC: "There are a set number of universes and we will heavily monitor and make sure the audience knows what counts as canon in each universe and what doesn't." I mean, apart from the never used hypertime and seemingly Convergence, DC tries to keep way too hard a grip on it and winds up resetting or altering the universe fairly frequently as a result. Marvel: "Eh, stuff happens. We can't control it. Everything gets random numbers." They don't try to connect everything or control everything, they just let it stand on its own and, whenever they have an idea that can use one of these old ones, they go back to it. I like DC's elseworld's more than Marvel's, but I think Marvel has the better approach to handling the paradoxes and alternate stories.
