Help - Cheesy drama film about amateur wrestling?

Okay guys, this has been bothering me for years so I'm hoping someone can help.

One afternoon when I was off school sick in around 2003/4, I flipped onto a film on TV and saw it involved wrestling, so I ended up watching it.

The plot was: young amateur wrestler in high school (US) doesn't really like wrestling and wants to quit, but his dad is massively into it (possibly his coach) and goes to all the tournaments with him. Boy has a redhead artist girlfriend who is trying to convince him to stand up to dad and tell him he doesn't want to wrestle anymore. Then the semi-finals of the tournament end up being on the same day as girlfriend's important art show, and he has to choose. He chooses wrestling. Cue sad girlfriend calling his house from a payphone looking glum, no answer. So she leaves the show early and gets in a car crash on the way home and dies. Pretty sure the ending is him standing on a bridge looking sad, but could be wrong about that bit.

Any ideas? Suspect it could be a lifetime/TV movie due to the dramatic romance plot!

Reversal is a 2001 movie about a high school wrestler, directed by Jimi Petulla. The movie, starring Danny Mousetis, chronicles the struggle of Leo Leone as he strives for the Pennsylvania state title and his dad's affection. Coached by his father, Edward Leone (played by Jimi Petulla), he is constantly pushed towards this goal. He is forced to decide between the approval of his father or his own wishes as he feels the strain from years of training and making weight.
