My previous computer's power supply blew up.
I was talking with some friends in Ventrilo when I smelled smoke. The last thing they heard from me for a few weeks was, "I smell smoke-" and then sparks shot out of the back of my PC with a loud BANG.

Luckily everything was okay but for the blown PSU. I don't remember the brand, but I'll never buy a cheap PSU again.

Yeah had a desktop computer blow it's PSU about a decade ago. And had a laptop blow the motherboard once.

Since it seems like the gif actually has the monitor going haywire as opposed to the unit itself, I did have a monitor short out two years ago.
It wasn't dramatic. I went to the fridge to get a soda, and I came back and the monitor never turned back on.

My previous laptop had an issue with the thing just blue-screening at random times. I took it to a local shop, and they snapped some pictures and whatnot and showed me the inside. Turns out the inside was corroded and rusted out. There were parts of the metal literally eaten away. I dunno how I didn't catch on to that. If I can fenegle the charger into working (the original reason I had scheduled to take it there), I can still get it to work, but someday I need to find a way to get the hard drive data off it without having to rely on the laptop itself. But I always hear conflicting methods to doing so (if anyone here would like to help via PM, much appreciated, I have some old writing work and music I'd LOVE to recover).
