What characters does it seem like nothing ever goes their way? Who the whole universe goes out of its way to make their life a living hell?
For me it's Sam Losco from Trailer Park Boys: over the course of the series:
-Lost his vet license and practice after being found out he took bullets out of Ricky's ass -Had to move into a shitty camper in the trailer park -Lost his bid to being trailer park supervisor after being drugged before his speech -Loses his relationship with the park owner after being tricked into filming a porno -Loses his vet license a second time after removing an infected tooth bubbles had -Gets prank called to come out to pave the park, causing a chain of events to lose his paving job, get a D.U.I, and get 1800 in fines. -Eventually ends up living in a cave in the woods and gets mistaken for a sasquatch -Everyone refers to him as a greasy caveman

- Hated by both Buffy and Faith - Faith turns evil, Buffy goes rogue - Poisoned by Faith - Fired by the Watchers Council - Kidnapped and tortured by Faith - Shot by a zombie cop and almost dies - Falls in love with Fred, tries to kill her while under supernatural influence - Just when it looks like he and Fred will get together, she begins a relationship with Gunn instead - Tricked into betraying Angel, gets his throat cut - Despite accepting he was trying to do the right thing Angel attempts to kill him, the team ostracise him - Begins hatef***ing Lilah before slowly developing feelings for her - Restores Angelus, discovers him feeding on Lilah's corpse - Is forced to behead Lilah's corpse - Shoots what he believes is his father for threatening Fred - Finally begins a relationship with Fred, who almost immediately dies in his arms and has her soul destroyed in Illyria's resurrection - Forced to see an ancient demon walk around in Fred's body for months, becomes an alcoholic - Breaks a spell that he believes will bring Fred back, only to find it was a mind-wipe, bringing back all the memories of betraying Angel, Lilah's death, and the aftermath - Dies in the suicide mission to destroy the Circle of Black Thorns - Sent to hell by the Senior Partners - After time resets, everybody comes back to life except him and Fred - Finally able to move on to the afterlife, but without Fred (who's later resurrected) Poor guy, seems like every time he caught a break the writers had to make two really shitty things happen to him to restore order.

Britta from Community. It made the show nearly unwatchable for me in places.

The list of everything that's happened to him is too long to post. And the thing is... he's a good kid.

Meg Griffin, one of a variety of reasons I stopped watching Family Guy an eternity ago.
Beyond that, The Cabbage Cart Owner from Avatar: The Last Airbender, though his fortunes do improve eventually. He is also able to get a small measure of revenge.

It's a hard character to get right in comedies because make the butt of the joke one too many times and it can easily cross the line into being mean-spirited.

Dorothy in the Golden Girls Yeah. I was thinking Rose. I'm so torn on how that makes me feel because Rose is the best thing about the show for me, but Blanche kinda JBL's it too much at times. Dorothy strikes a good balance when it comes to dogging Rose and loving her. I guess Blanche does that too, but it just takes longer for me to get over it with her.

Meg from Family Guy, especially in the later seasons where she basically accepts the fact she should be abused to keep her Family together, which is dogshit.

Rose reminds me so much of my mom at times. My mom has a good-natured sweetness that sometimes borders on naïveté. She really looks for the best in people.
