I always hated that I never had a computer in the 90's to play these games. Always heard good things about them
I would love to see remakes but with EA I don't know

X-wing was okay, but man, Tie-Fighter was awesome. I'm still dumbfounded that they haven't tried to do a movie or other sort of series from the bad guy's prospective like this. The best, IMO, was X-Wing Alliance. It came out a few years later but a lot of the game play elements were vastly improved. I'd absolutely love it if they finally re-released these as an update or something.

Tie fighter is a top 5 game of all time for me. I still play it occasionally along with Alliance. Whilst the alliance game is better, nothing beats the feeling of flying around in a roaring tie interceptor and having darth vader as your wingman.

Forgive the silly question, but with these games you more or less have to play with a joystick and keyboard correct? I can't recall ever hearing another setup that was compatible with it.

Have a look on GoG. I think you may be able to use a mouse. I do remember these games using all the buttons on my flight stick and most of the keyboard.

Loved X-Wing Alliance .. could never get past the mission were you had to transport an imperial probe droid from part of the galaxy to the other.. damned pirates in Ywings .. never thought to just detach the probe from my underside, destroy the pirates and then return to the probe.
Anyway the ships had such great detail and pretty much featured every ship from the original trilogy.

I used to play X-Wing Alliance all of the time. I had a joystick for it which was pretty nice to use. I still had to use the keyboard for some options.
I think you can download those games on gog.com.

I had the Tie Fighter Collector's Edition, that game was amazing. With all the add-ons, it lasted forever too.

You can get the games on GOG.com, and unlike the Steam versions they will work on modern systems without any real hassle.
Though if you can't get a proper flightstick, a game controller with analog sticks works well, too. I had no problems playing TIE Fighter or X-Wing Alliance with my Dual Shock or Xbox 360 controllers along with my keyboard.
Also, Star Wars Rebels having the TIE Defender made me so very happy. I loved watching it destroy those Rebel scum in a canon show.

I loved those games, especially Tie Fighter. I wish it was available for download for the PS3. My PC is too shitty to play games on anymore.

That's exactly the sort of thing I'd like to see someday. Like, maybe an imperial pilot who's sort of like the Red Baron or something for the empire and his squad unit. I wouldn't want to see the main characters "become good" or "see the evil of the empire" or anything dumb and cliche' like that, I'd just like to see some patriots fighting for the empire and doing their job. I think it'd be fun to see from their point of view, especially if we ditch the dumb "they are all clones" stuff and leave Vader out of it (Grand Admiral Thrawn, Imperial Inquisitors, or other Moffs would be welcome though)
