Iloved this as a kid. Surprised it was never a huge thing. Dinosaurs covered in laser guns seems like a surefire success.

I'm more shocked that there hasn't been a revival or even a DVD collection of the show.

Had a few of the smaller toys. They were pretty cool.
If I remember right, the larger ones were pretty expensive. That may be one reason they didn't become bigger.

I think I had all of the first few series of it (the toyline that is), maybe the complete thing, not sure. I loved them. The dinosaur toys themselves were super awesome for the time (had some dinosaurs that didn't you typically wouldn't see toys of, which was nice), but the lasers and stuff were just the worst. Half the parts of the metal stuff looked exactly the same, and they were almost all the same color with nothing distinguishing about them, needless to say they soon ended up all mixed in a bin and as a kid I could never figure out how to put them back on (not like I really cared, the dinos themselves, again, was where it was at and are still on some of my shelves to this day). Some of the toys also came with cool "capture" playsets that could be retooled to be used on GI Joes and what not, good stuff. I also liked the cartoon, nut it always gets the dino-saucers intro in my head.

I have no recollection of the show, but I did have a few of the toys.

How did this not take off The cartoon only aired in syndication and it was during the dying days of Saturday morning. I only ever found two VHSs and accidentally stumbled on an episode one morning home sick. The show just never took off. The toys were fantastic though. I know museums sold to molds of the dinosaurs without the weapons for years after. I know there were at least three waves, getting up to Ice Age before the line died, about three years I think. Mattel was talking about a revival two years ago at Comic-Con, but opted not to pursue. Shame, love to see it return.

Also, it probably doesn't help the nostalgia factor of the show/toy line that most of the toys are incredibly rare (read: EXPENSIVE) and I'll dare say have been for a long time now.
I still have a ton of figures, sadly no dinosaurs (those things were WELL made), but every time I look anything DR related up on eBay the prices just drive me right away.

I think I had a couple of toys. I don't really remember. I know I had the dinosaur figures, but I don't think they had the mounted weapons. I definitely remember I really wanted the T-Rex. I instead had another T-Rex toy which I would add Lego parts to replicate the brainbox and mounted weapons.
I did have a few episodes on video. Mainly the one where one guy makes some mirrors for his lady friend, and another where the Rulon controlled T-Rex wrecks house. Also I was Team Hammerhead.

Meanwhile I have the T-Rex, which was apparently a pain in the ass according to my parents

The battles in those Dino Riders toy commercials are better than all the battles in the Star Wars prequels.
