Wait, 2?
Is that the reason for the delay that people were going mental about after midnight...?

I knew two were coming out at the same time, but didn't know it was this soon. To Netflix!

He's supposed to have a third one at some point in the near future I believe, as well. I think his netflix deal was for three specials.

The first one was a little cringe-worthy with what I perceived as an obsession with the LGBTQ community. When I was younger, I wouldn't have cared but it made me worry that Chappelle had gone to the alt-right. He was humble about a set that he did long before that bombed and I appreciate it. The Cosby stuff was a little hard to swallow too.
The second one clicks better. I liked the bits about O.J as cringe-worthy as they were. He wasn't trying to humanize O.J.
I missed Dave Chappelle and I would love to see where he goes from here. Dave's 42 and I'm 35 and it's weird how similar our mindsets are on certain things.

Yea I hear what you saying but that is Chapelle in a nut shell. He will go off all serious and bring it back to a punchline but on the same token he will go too far but somehow still make it funny. He did say after the OJ joke "man the f*** up or you won't make it through the show" which should of sent warnings up immediately. I would say if people are a fan of Dave Chappell than they will love it while newcomers may think he goes too far

I've watched the first one so far, and I was crying from laughing so hard. Dave is an all time great comic. His Cosby mathematics had me in stitches.

I'm still a fan.

I found the Los Angeles show to be incredibly funny. Everything worked, everything clicked, typical Chappelle.
The Austin TX show.....was great, but there was an odd vibe to it. Maybe it was the material, maybe the vibe of the audience hit him a certain way (he joked about doing bad shows at the L.A. taping, and while I didn't think Austin was a bad show I think it was his way of saying the audience can affect his performance sometimes), or maybe that much Chappelle comedy in a row was too much for me...? But it was still very very good.
The OJ story evolved wonderfully. And if it does humanize OJ, it's in the worst way possible, and Dave telling it like it did emphasized that especially: he meets OJ amidst understandable aura of hero worship & awe, then when he gets to know him and talks to him years later, turns immediately into "holy shit that man did it," and ultimately the eventual cold shoulder at the point when his "career probably won't survive a picture with you."
..........about the Cosby bit, and really the Cosby controversy itself: if you weren't a kid in the '70s or '80s, I don't think you can understand the measure of it the same way. As Dave said, every black comedian WORSHIPPED Cosby back then - the rape controversy engulfing a man who was a certifiable hero to a large group of Americans is a VERY tough pill for them to swallow (though many probably have) and to expect them to swallow. There's an inclination to defend him on some level because of just how significant he was and, in a way, still is.
Chappelle certainly bashed him, but I think the takeaway will be more that....not so much that he defended him, he just made a point not to bash him too. Although I thought the ice cream comparison was a brilliant way to highlight the issue ("Oh man, I used to LIKE chocolate ice cream!") - that really is how everyone felt. But in the end, you're either gonna be just fine with swearing off ice cream, or you're not.
In the end, you're gonna see what you know to see - either the "defense" of a serial rapist, or dealing with the problem of abandoning a man who was really culturally important to him.
