My grandmother has passed away

Last night. I was not there, and my mother waited until about twenty minutes ago to call me to break the news. I'm honestly more relieved than anything else-she is not in pain anymore, plus she is back with my grandfather, which matters more than anything else. I also take some comfort in knowing that I apparently come from some hearty stock, as she lived to 95 and put up one hell of a fight these last couple of weeks. Sufficed to say I won't be going to work tonight, but I'm not going to go out and get shitfaced either. Just need a day with my thoughts, and I think my mom needs to see at least one of her sons today.

Thanks gang, means a lot. I'm also very relieved for my mom, who devoted herself 24/7 to looking after the old lady for the last several years. The coming months are going to be hectic with all the details that need to be worked out, but I think her life will get quite a bit happier from here out. For my own part, my mind is now made up to relocate out of NJ, as now I no longer have much reason to remain on here. I look at this as the opening of a new chapter, and though my grandmother is no longer with us both her and our journey's have really only just begun.

My condolences. It's at least good to hear you're taking it well and that, from what you told us, she went in peace. Since we all have to go someday, I can only wish everyone to go quietly and without pain.

Yeah,it feels a little weird to be taking this as. Asuslky as we all are. But this was anticipated for a few weeks now, so that makes it easier to handle.

August will be 7 years, since my grandmother passed. I didn't cry very much, because she was in a lot of pain, and the last 2 times I saw her, she told me that she always knew I would be okay, and that comforted me. I'm happy your grandma lived a long life, but still, I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that bro. Sounds like how my mom was last year taking care of both my aunt and grandmother and then both my aunt and grandmother passed away two weeks apart from each other. It is def a tough time but hopefully time will heal as it has done with my family.
