Final score for Flurry of Emotions is... 7/10.
I like that there was some non Crystal Empire settings for Shining Armor and Cadance, and a Bro Artist pony amused me to no end.
As far as the rest, while it was good there was some contrast to Baby Cakes, the episode sill felt like it ventured into being a lesser version of that, and Flurry Heart's antics never got more than a smirk here and there. The aesop feels a bit weak too, as while Twilight was neglecting her a bit, the biggest impression I got is that this kid needs to have some discipline in her life. If you're into Twilight and her niece being adorable, I'm sure it was very enjoyable, but for me it had a sense of been there, done that to it.

"Flurry Of Emotions"...gets a 9/10 from me. Pros: -The interactions between Twilight and Flurry made me smile all the time since I am currently kinda in the same boat having a 2 1/2 year-old nephew who I love to spend time with. The happy moments, the sad moments...I felt it resonated so much to me, it hit pretty much close to home. And the moral of the episode was original and not just a repeat of Baby Cakes which, I guess, shows that the writers actually checked previous episodes beforehand. -My favorite bookhorse princess was just wonderful this episode and she was portrayed as a pretty great aunt. Her playing silly games with Flurry Heart, her comforting her when she's scared, her disciplining...I felt more comfortable than ever in her being my favorite of the mane six. -What is with Spike this season? All his appearances so far have hit the perfect mark. Could it be that Kristin and Joanna, ever since they wrote "Gauntlet Of Fire" the first very good Spike episode, pretty much "get" how Spike should be written? I have certainly high hopes that with them at the helm, we don't have to worry about another "Spike At Your Service" or "Princess Spike" soon. -The story was pretty well paced with hitting the places Twilight needed to visit giving each one ample time and then having the climax at the hospital pretty drawn out with a sweet ending. You could not ask for a better pacing than that. -Loved the B-plot with Shining, Cadance and their ex-guard/pop artist friend. It was fun (Cadance's reactions especially) and the end part where they miss their little sweetheart was so endearing. Definitely better than the B-plot last week. -Flurry Heart, who I didn't care for much before that, was just freakin' adorable the whole time. She won me over big time with this ep. -Also loved seeing Nurse Redheart, Cheerilee and the Cake Twins again (especially the Cake Twins, Geezus, they can be vicious). Cons: -Like Eunos said, the disciplining would have been better if it was not just one big apology by Twilight, but that she also should have told her that it is not OK to levitate ponies around for her search. Would have made the ep a perfect 10. As it is though, a very good 9/10 it is.

So, I guess for this season the promos will be a sort of "Next Time! On My Little Pony!"?

Magic Bubble! Come to think of it, unlike for the season premieres a week ago, there were no preview clips this time, right?

Yeah, so far this seems to be far less preview heavy

Maybe that's why they have these promos now.
No more preview clips, instead you get those 15-second teasers.
We will have to see how the next weeks will look like.

Don't worry, Cheerilee. You'll have the formula for the Philosopher's Stone up there in 10 seconds flat.

So, can we say that these new writers today get our stamp of approval?
