The only thing I see is that Vegeta is still Vegeta, just with more priorities. Where as Gohan scaled back immensely, Vegeta knows what he is, and when it comes down to it he can start where left off. He proved in the Zamasu/Black arc that he's not to be taken lightly.
Let's not forget that Super has taken on a new creative direction. So some things are definitely gonna be changing for the better.

2) Is resurrecting people to use in the tournament out of the question? Pikkon would be useful here. Pikkon is non-canon/anime only, despite his popularity, I dunno if we'll see him. So far the only anime-only character appear is Gregory. A better question is why didn't Beerus demand for Frieza to be resurrected. Surely, Beerus could force him to play nice. It would be cool to see Goku and Vegeta be forced to cooperate with Frieza and Cell.

Ever since Xenoverse they can virtually turn anything canon and non canon if they want to. Making Vegeta "softer" is not a bad trait per se tho him being an all time ass hole in DBZ Abdriged is probably my favorite incarnation of him.

I'm more partial to his development as a character. From the start of Z to now. Sure I would like a definitive victory or two over a main bad guy, but who knows. His moments in the sun have been in his development in points of realization from warrior with linear thinking to a father who is the King of Sayains who's purpose has evolved. We still haven't seen if he'll find out who also is responsible for the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Even Goku for that matter.

Maybe they have explained these things and I missed it, but I have a few questions: 1) Why don't they hop in the time chamber to train for a year? They can always take in a year's supply for everyone in capsules. 2) Is resurrecting people to use in the tournament out of the question? Pikkon would be useful here. 3) Why are they at least not telling the other participants what's on the line? I get not telling the kids, Bulma, or Videl, but they need people to be properly motivated. 4) How is there only 28 planets with mortals on them in the whole universe? There seems to be more types of aliens in Frieza's forces than that. Besides, even though Planet Namek is gone there is a new Planet Namek out there. I assume Shenron has a time limit on reviving someone from the dead, Pikkon has been dead for a damn long time.

Vegeta blew it up while training for Black again. 2. I think so, they mentioned that using senzu is out of the question. They're rather limited in time to. They have 39 hours to find a team of ten. 3. They'll likely have a group meeting at Dende's or The Kai's planet an hour before hand to proper tell the team. 4. After everything Frieza, Vegeta, Ginyu, Buu did, I get it. There might be other planets, Supreme Kai seems to be slacking on his job.

Besides, even though Planet Namek is gone there is a new Planet Namek out there. 1)They haven't gotten the entire team ready yet, so we'll see if they mention that yet. 2)Considering there being a question from the Supreme Kai about the validity of 17 and 18 being part of the team, bringing back the dead for participation is a whole nother problem entirely. You're not the first to ask about that though, as someone had suggested of all things bringing Cell in for the fight instead of a Roshi or Tenshinhan, considering Cell would have some Saiyan pride and would want to redeem himself fighting wise (not personality wise) like Vegeta in the early days of Z. 3)I'm thinking they're waiting until the entire team is gathered and alone to know this first. Though I have a feeling Goku may let it slip with 18 going by the next episode's preview. 4)Well, the amount of aliens in Freeza's forces could mean they're just refugees of that race. After all, the Saiyans were part of the group and they didn't have a homeworld anymore. Plus, combine Freeza's eradication and conquest, whatever Buu did in the ancient past, Beerus' recent wake up and destroying planets whose food he didn't care for, the war between the Galactic Patrol and the remnants of Freeza's forces, and the shockwaves from the Beerus/SSG Goku fight destroying worlds, while it still seems like a low number it is feasible. Yeah, Freiza's rampage was 15 years ago, Buu's last one was less than 5, and Beerus' was 1 or 2. We saw from the Universe 10 stuff that intelligent life takes 1000s of years, and Supreme Kai is a little understaffed after Buu killed his 3 coworkers. It's amazing any life outside earth still exists.
