RIP to the deceased of this horrible tragedy. I highly recommend anyone to watch the Air Crash Investigation episode about this if you're interested, its crazy how avoidable it was.

Yeah, i think the worst part I read was that Control and one of the planes both said something that would have alerted the other plane, and averted the crash, but because they said them at the exact same time, their radio signals blocked eachother out.

Its also quite sad that the investigators found out that the KLM plane would of made the take off had the pilot not taken on the extra fuel while waiting at the airport.

Don't know what it is but plane crashes have always been fascinating to me. Tennerife is like most plane crashes in that it takes a perfect chain of events for said crash to happen. There are actually two Air Crash Investigation episodes about Tennerife and both are very interesting.
Speaking of Air Crash Investigation episodes I really wish they would do one about Southern Airways Flight 932 that killed the 1970 Marshall football team.

Neither of those planes should have been cleared for takeoff, given the foggy conditions, especially since the tower could not verify the positions of the planes visually or by radar.

I've not heard of this. Sound horrifying and like everyone said, could have and should have been avoided if one thing was different. If it was so foggy that the control tower could not see what was going on, they should have kept everyone grounded.
