I can see where he's coming from. He comes back after 12 years in exile, gets back in incredible shape for a guy his age (which is a bitch to maintain), and has a second chance to have a good match with Lesnar on Sunday to make up for The Garden debacle. It's not hard to see why he's freaking out.

A lot of people are taking the article out of context. A lot of websites (Uproxx, for example) are taking things completely out of context so they can get clicks and put their little opinions behind it. He's miserable because the man is in his 50's and having to train constantly/put his body through things he probably wouldn't do otherwise at his age. His body is not reacting the same as it did in his prime, thus, he is miserable. Stop giving these terrible websites traffic. Please. For the good of us all, do your part to lead them (The websites, not the people behind them) to their deaths. Okay, that sucks for him, I agree. Who's got the gun on his head, making him do it? For the money? He's got money. Nah, if I'm getting paid in the 7 figures for what amounts to a f***ing victory lap vanity run, I will PAINT the smile on my face and do it. Otherwise, I'll say "Nah, I don't need the money, or the hassle, I'm good".

He shouldn't have to defend himself over something so stupid...but there you go.

I'd trade all my money for one Goldberg pay day.
This shouldn't be a surprise to him. Which he's acting like it was. Plus, he's barely done anything since November.

I wonder how the guys that are on the road 250 plus days a year, AND expected to always be on tv shape, feel about Goldberg complaining while he's getting more money than they'll ever see.

I only worked out once to gain mass and eating so much and working out so much f***ing sucks. And Bills 50. And has had a football/wrestling career. He was in amazing shape on RAW.

I can't blame him in the least for coming back to give him a glimpse of what his dad was like once upon a time. Goldberg seems like he can go to the extremes on things really quickly and I don't doubt that he changes that when it comes to working out/his diet. Add in a body that's probably beaten to hell and back, and yeah, I would imagine it would be fairly miserable in that regard. Again, I place the blame the websites for painting this in a different light and taking something so out of context so it could fit their narrative or create a big story. I get the whole "But he's a part-timer!" thing. But he's not the booker/writer. I DO think it's bad booking to have him win the title with the sole purpose of giving it to another part-timer that should've been gone years ago, but he didn't book it.

This entire WWE stretch is def for his son. He has been saying for years if he ever came back to wrestle it would be because he wanted his son to see him wrestle. I think people are unfairly jumping down Goldbergs throat a little too much as he was talking in terms of being miserable in terms of his body and the daily routine it takes to stay in that shape. I agree its bad booking on their part with him having the title because the end result is clearly he will drop the title to Brock and Brock will leave with it.

I think they would be a bit more sympathetic because they know how shitty it is to force yourself to do heavy workouts and forcefeed to eat a bunch of food. Also I imagine most wrestlers wouldn't take the interview out of context and make a mountain out of a mole hill and realize it was a 2 minute sentence from a 1 hour podcast from a light hearted Edge and Christian podcast. It's Wrestlemania season and it seems like wrestling fans look forward in taking any opportunity to lash out on things they don't like and think later.

Ignoring the fact that "what does he have to be miserable about?" is never good logic when it comes to mental health, from the interview it sounds like the dude is basically in discomfort and pain 24/7 as a result of this run. Living in pain is not fun, no matter what. Working with injuries would explain why he's been even wrestling even shorter matches than ever. Also holy f*** what's this about a chainsaw? Like, switched off obviously because he wouldn't have a leg otherwise, but what the hell happened there? (Spoilered for graphicness) Holy shit. How did he not lose his leg? How did he recover quick enough to get in the shape for his return? Jesus.

As a part time trainer, I knew what Goldberg meant the moment I read the misleading headline on Yahoo. Getting in "WWE shape" at age 50 after 12 years out of the business sounds absolutely brutal. To his credit he did a great but it was probably a lot harder on his body than it was 20 years ago. Age doesn't discriminate folks.

Hell, despite my teasing him earlier, I'll give him even more credit--dude is in phenomenal shape for any age let alone just for his age Granted, they look to be all gym muscles given the way he's barely able to do anything now, but still it's impressive.

Yeah he's probably on steroids, and I bet he wasn't clean either back in the 90s
I hope the dude's quads don't get destroyed.

I don't see anything wrong with his comments. His honesty is actually refreshing. It can't be easy for him physically no matter how good of shape he was in to begin with. He probably hasn't worked out like this in years and the fact he's eligible for AARP is a big deal.
