They just need to stop trying to make American Akira a thing. It's far far too rooted in a particular culture/period of time to really work as a remotely direct adaptation.

If someone wanted to take the basic foundations of the film and revamp it (like CowboyBebop::Firefly (not to say Firefly was an adaptation of CB, just that the basic bones of CB were definitely in Firefly)) then I could see that working better than trying to do a more direct adaptation. If the looks of Death Note & GitS are any indicator - it just doesn't work.

I could see him doing the Flash, but personally I'd rather see him just do another original story.

I will give him a chance no doubt to see how it turns out. He deserves the benefit of doubt at this point but it is going to be hard to make Akira

I honestly don't know why he would take it. It sounds like it's a trap movie that could easily derail his fledging directing career. I mean, I'm sure he'd do a good job, but I don't think it'd be a good idea for him right now. GitS already has people up in arms (rightfully so) about how it turned out, and unless Jordan gets to have a major hand in the script, it could run into the same problems.

I wish, if Hollywood was going to do a dystopian future movie, it'd either adapt Snow Crash already or do something original.
