I see that it got added on Netflix. I remember watching it on Cartoon Express on USA as a kid also thanks to my brother I had a bunch of the toys.
I wonder if the show still holds up

Well, the first seasons should still hold up.
But it all ends when Peter Venkman's VA changes, Janine turns into a more motherly figure with round glasses and the show turns into "The Slimer Show feat. The Real Ghostbusters".

One of the best things about the 80's cartoons were they always had great themes or Intros

I wonder how well Samhain or The Boogeyman would've translated to a live action movie.

Definitely a part of my childhood, while also a prime example of a network f***ing themselves by not letting a smash hit be, and wanting to mold it to what they wanted instead. But my question is, can you smooch a ghost? Heck yes!!

I may be in the minority but I actually preferred the Slimer episodes. I used to get a little bored watching episodes of this show. I think it was too serious at times for me. I liked my cartoons to be mostly comedy.

Yep... pretty much until "they fixed" the show pretty much holds up. There are a few episodes post that are decent enough... but... it definitely trended way down after it became the SLIMER SHOW!

I wonder if the show still holds up Animation is REAL rough, early days and later days (especially later days). But those earlier eps still work, good writing and acting. As the show went on and the focus changed to highlight Slimer, it became a lot more juvenile.... even though (IIRC) J.M. Stracynzski was pretty much the story editor and main writer for the whole run.

I liked my cartoons to be mostly comedy. Relative to that, I remember way back when, catching a couple episodes of the Extreme Ghostbusters, and there was a group of villains that were damn near Hellraiser-level. I don't know how they got away with it.

Yep. When Lorenzo Music leaves the show falls of a cliff. But damn the first season is really, really good.

I didn't mind when Dave Coulier voiced Peter, but I liked Lorenzo Music's portrayal of him better.
As for the show itself, I used to watch it a lot as a child. It was definitely something that I watched all the time as a little kid, next to TMNT. I must note that I watched the cartoon before seeing the movies. I wondered why the characters in the movies looked different (Like I said, I was little). To be honest, I also thought that Janine was voiced by Annie Potts at first. Laura Summer did a damn good job at bringing the style that Annie Potts had. She sounded similar to her.

I think the syndicated season 2 episodes(ESPECIALLY the ones animated by TMS), have some of the best animation I've seen in an 80s cartoon IMO.
