In order to fool people, I preemptively did a prank article two days before April fools.
I made up a preview of fake anime where Japan invades America. It didn't go as widespread as I hoped, but it was funny seeing one guy respond on facebook. lol

A controversial new anime sets to go into production and air this fall. That show is Steel America. From Studio Lever, this anime has the premise of the Japanese military invading America in order to liberate it from a fascist government. The timeline happens to be during the 60s, as the reason the country becomes fascist is because America became dictatorial in order to vanquish social uprisings such as the civil rights and counter culture movements (Yeah, they are really going there). As expected, the Japanese military will have the technological advantage of mech technology.

Head of Studio Lever and driving force behind this project, Eki Kiyakota, has stated “We really want to push new boundaries on what has been done. We realize this might raise some reactions from those from America, but we figure that the more this show is talked about, the better.”

This all sounds interesting. Now to see how it all turns out, and hopefully Studio Lever gives us something good beyond just a eye catching premise.

You know, I have been thinking for years about a fictional war story where considered powerful friendly nation is the enemy (like the U.S or U.K)

Like in V For Vendetta in a time of desperation the nation is tricked into getting behind a fascist leader. But I guess no publisher or studio will be brave enough to make such a story.

I first got the idea from a friend who threw together some random beach wear for her and a friend to wear as cosplay at Anime Expo, and then made up a fake anime to tell people it was from.

Honestly, there was a tiny part of me that wished this would have snowballed out of control and become so widespread, that an anime studio would want to contact me and option this to be made. XD
This didn't go far because apparently the easily offended decided to go on vacation when I posted it on various fb groups. lol

I imagined the Japanese military not only having mechs that would give them a huge advantage voer america, but they would also have American rebels fighting a long side them(to make the battle equal). Who would resemble 60s radicals and Black Panthers(because it's not controversial enough, lol).
