Was over at the neighbours place having a drink and asking if he wanted to come over for WrestleMania when I noticed people started showing up to my place. Went home and got inside and noticed a strong smell of smoke, turns out my crawlspace was flooding and it shorted out the space heater I have down there. Through dumb luck it burned through the water line, which was pex pipe instead of copper, and it put the fire out before the whole house went up. Still bad structural damage, house might be a write off. Myself and all my pets are safe tho, but I'm kinda mentally broken at the moment. No real point to this thread, just needed to vent. I just wanted to have some beers and watch Mania with my friends because it's tradition for us. F***

That sucks, dude. Almost happened to me when my wife left the house with a pizza still in the oven. Came home to a smokey kitchen.
I assume you're insured?

Glad everyone is okay, but fires are absolutely terrible. We lived in an apartment in a bad area for a few months and someone set the apartment with which we shared a common wall on fire(to destroy evidence of a crime that happened there the first week we lived there) and it was terrifying. Hope it turns out to be an inconvenience for you at the most.

Crap, I'm sorry about that. I'm glad that you and the pet are all ok, I know it sucks to say but the rest of it is just stuff, it can be replaced. Peace and prayers to you friend.

I'm glad you're technically OK. I totally understand why you're shaken right now. I'm still messed up from when the stove caught on fire a month ago.

Just an update, having gotten a chance to get in and look around and start getting back to life I've discovered the damage is nowhere near as bad as originally feared.
I've already been able to get an electrician in to kill the power to the crawl space, as it's a literal dirt hole in the ground under my house so I have no need for power down there. Still working on clearing out the smell of smoke, damn crawl space door is in my bedroom so it's still pretty rough in there.
All things considered it could've been so much worse. Gonna be a while before I get a good nights sleep, that's for sure. I'm rarely home on Sunday's, usually with friends for the evening, and had it been the usual 10 or 11 pm things likely end up very, very bad. WrestleMania basically saved my house in a roundabout way haha. Thanks for all the well wishes guys and gals, I always appreciate your support here
