Well Warrior did it to the World belt too. I guess it was just to fit the characters, plus they could change up the belt without making a whole new one, Hogan went through a few title belts.

I was just going to start a topic on this! how much did these belts cost if they were able to make so many?

Warrior was the first to do it I believe with said yellow IC. With the WWF championship he used black, white, sky blue, and lavender. Mattel released a figure of him with a yellow WWF championship but Im pretty sure he never had one.
As to why HBK started switching the straps around, no idea. Props to including Goldust's gold strap, thats gets overlooked too often. I thought as a teen it made my favorite title look better than the winged eagle. But it was weird seeing Ahmed Johnson with it. Pretty sure he kept it gold for a month before vacating it to injury or something
Would love to see this thread take off with more and more input from people who know more about the straps

I remember someone claiming it was to keep Warrior from forgetting the title belt, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

That was a screw up on Mattel's part with his WrestleMania VI figure. They should've just given him the black strap World title and the yellow strap IC title like he had when he won the match. Instead they gave him one yellow strap World title. A belt design that didn't exist. Just wanted to clear that up in case that figure caused any confusion.

Honestly didn't know Warrior had done it, but then I watched the 91 Royal Rumble and he had a lilac coloured one to go with his USA gear. Always just wondered the reason behind changing the colours.

I wouldn't doubt people manufactured knockoffs of that belt but is that a belt that WWF meant to use?

In the Attitude Era, the new world title had a navy blue strap. That's the belt they gave to Arnie

Sarge's title belt should have had a military camoflauge strap

It was so weird seeing super evil Sgt Slaughter celebrating with the purple WWF title It so was. Like, knowing what we all do about Vince now, shouldn't have back then some part of Vince be like "Godammit pal, can't have Sarge celebrating with PURPLE!"

Sarge's title belt should have had a military camoflauge strap Mmm...to abrasive to the senses. A solid olive green strap? Yes

Wasnt attitude era IC initially purple? Yup. The article I found this picture in said the strap turned black from "sweat, blood, baby oil and other grunge."
